Lady Gaga Leads Seven Debuts In This Week's Top 10

This article is more than 7 years old.

While Lady Gaga may be in first place this week, her new album Joanne is just one of seven new titles in the top 10 this frame, with some pretty big names coming in not too far behind her.

In second place this time around is Canadian crooner Michael Bublé with his new full-length Nobody But Me, which begins with a higher-than-expected 91,000 equivalent units. This debut marks the singer’s seventh top 10 effort, a tally which includes four chart-toppers. He almost reached the peak for a fifth time this week, and if it hadn’t been for Gaga, he’d be in charge yet again.

A cappella internet phenoms Pentatonix start their new holiday collection A Pentatonix Christmas at No. 3 thanks to 60,000 equivalent units moved. This beginning is the group’s sixth time in the top 10, and it cements the singing troupe as the leader when it comes to the genre, as no other a cappella group (though the members have strayed somewhat from just that one style) in the industry is doing quite as well as Pentatonix is these days.

Hard rock act Korn breaks into the top 10 for an incredible 13th time in the band’s career with their latest album The Serenity Of Suffering. The album, which kicks off at No. 4, moved 57,000 equivalent units. The band is unquestionably one of the biggest in the hard rock world, and their continued charting success proves it. Since first hitting the highest tier on the Billboard 200 in 1996 with their sophomore effort Life Is Peachy, the band hasn’t missed placing a new title in the region yet.

For the first time since being released six months ago, Drake’s Views finally drops all the way down...to No. 5. That’s right, this week marks the first frame where the rapper’s album hasn’t placed within the top four, and it’s only because there were so many big debuts this week. If even one of those albums had come out at another time, Views would likely still remain in the top four, despite the fact that it's already shifted millions and has been available for dozens of frames.

Christian chart-topping singer-songwriter Chris Tomlin starts his ninth proper full-length Never Lose Sight at No. 6 with 32,000 equivalent units. This new collection marks Tomlin’s fourth top 10 effort, which includes a No. 1.

Nos. 7 and 8 this week belong to the Suicide Squad soundtrack and the original Broadway cast recording of Hamilton, both of which have already spent their fair share of frames in the top 10. Those two titles shifted 31,000 and 30,000 equivalent units, respectively.

New at No. 9 is holiday favorite the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, which starts its new album The Ghosts Of Christmas Eve a bit early for the season. This new Christmas-y effort is the group’s fourth top 10, which shows that Americans really love when the band has something new to offer in the fourth quarter. Ghosts starts with 27,000 equivalent units.

The final new title in the top 10 this week comes from legendary singer, songwriter, and poet Leonard Cohen. You Want It Darker, his most recent album, begins with just 25,000 equivalent units, which is enough to give him just his second-ever appearance in the region, which is incredible considering the fact that he has been releasing music for several decades now.
