Closure Update:
Crews completed repairs to utilities in Lowell Blvd. over the weekend. We will be paving Lowell Blvd. today, Monday, 5/13. We anticipate the road to reopen as early as this evening. Road work is weather-dependent and subject to change.

5/9 : Lowell Blvd. Closure Update

Lowell Blvd. between W. 73rd Ave. and Westminster Pl. will remain closed through the weekend. We hope Lowell may be reopened by next week.

The water main break damaged other utilities adjacent to the water main, and we are working closely with our partner utility agencies as they complete repairs as efficiently as possible.

The water main, which broke on Tuesday, 5/7, has been repaired and water service was restored. We thank our community for their patience.

🚧 Lowell Blvd. is closed between W. 73rd Ave. and Westminster Pl. due to a water main break. Please avoid the area until further notice as crews work to repair the water main and road.

On this Holocaust Remembrance Day, we honor the lasting legacy of a Holocaust survivor who lived in Westminster and recently published a book detailing her harrowing life experiences.

Estelle Nadel was only 7 years old when Nazis invaded her hometown in Poland. Through her book, “The Girl Who Sang”, Nadel details her story of survival and the tragic loss of her parents and siblings. While describing her unimaginable experience, Nadel also crafts a message of hope, a message she lived by that is remembered by the Westminster community.

Nadel was an active resident and regularly attended yoga classes at City Park Fitness Center. Her instructor and classmates remember her as a fun and chatty person, who could hold a conversation on just about anything, from technology to the Kardashians.

Nadel passed away on November 26, 2023. She was 88 years old, just five days shy of her 89th birthday, and only a couple months before her book was published. Nadel’s legacy will live on through “The Girl Who Sang”, which is available at both College Hill (3705 W. 112th Ave.) and Irving Street (7392 Irving St.) libraries for check out. 🚧 Big Dry Creek Trail/Underpass Closure Update 🚧 The new pump install will occur in the next two weeks, and the trail will be reopened once this is completed.

In the meantime, please continue to follow all detour signage. Thank you for your patience during this closure.

Background Info:
In late February, Open Space staff identified that the Big Dry Creek tunnel underpass at Wadsworth Parkway needed to be closed due to about three feet of standing water in the tunnel. A pump that is designed to remove water from the tunnel failed and needed to be repaired. Signage is posted on both sides of the tunnel notifying the public of the closure. Trail users can detour around the tunnel by going north to 100th Avenue or south to Independence Street.

Additional updates will be posted here: https://www.westminsterco.gov/conezone
