Each graduate’s family has been allocated a maximum of 4 tickets for the commencement ceremony.

• All seniors get 4 tickets. So there is no rush to come in. We created a schedule we hope will be convenient for everyone.
• Commencement will be live streamed for all those who cannot attend due to the ticket limit.

*Originally, NSD's Commencement Ceremonies were scheduled for Monday, June 14 and Tuesday, June 15, the 2nd Monday and Tuesday in June.

• Subsequently, there was a scheduling conflict for June 14.
• Rather than pushing our ceremonies back to NSD's traditional 3rd Monday and Tuesday (June 21/22), the Wednesday, June 16 date was added.
• This adjustment moved Woodinville's ceremony from Tuesday, June 15 to Wednesday, June 16.

All seniors participating at the June 16 Commencement Ceremony MUST attend rehearsal on Monday, June 14, 9:00-11:00 a.m. Due to the weather forecast, Rehearsal has been moved into the WHS Theatre and Main Gym.

Spring Yearbook Distribution Event! Wednesday, June 9!

We are so excited to host our upcoming Spring Yearbook Distribution Event, this Wednesday, June 9th! At the event, you will be able to drop off your textbooks and school supplies, receive recognition gifts (for those who participated in a club or sport), and pick up your National Honor Society materials. Juniors will also have the opportunity to pick up their class rings and senior T-shirts.

Please arrive during your class’s designated time slot.

• Freshmen: 10:00 - 11:00
• Sophomores: 11:00 - 12:00
• Juniors: 12:00 - 1:00
• Seniors: 1:00 - 2:00

Virtual Celebration!

Senior Awards is a time-honored Woodinville High School ceremony that serves as a special way to honor and recognize the graduating class. The excitement of the Awards of Distinction presented to seniors by WHS faculty throughout every department, commending the accomplishments of our valedictorians, and acknowledging academic honors and awards, continues virtually this year!

The premiere will be available on the Senior Awards page at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 3. It will remain on the site for future viewing, as well.

Grade 12 Semester 2 Grading: NC for F and P Grades - Due June 2

Information for Northshore Families

NC for F and P Grades - Grade 12 – Class of 2021

2020-21 Semester 2

DUE JUNE 2

As advised in January, 2021 Northshore’s secondary schools have been directed by a team of central office and education association leadership known as the Steering Committee regarding practices for grades during the 2020-21 school year. 

• Since January, schools have utilized various actions to support seniors who were in jeopardy of receiving D and F grades at the end of the first semester. 
• No senior in Grade 12 taking a credit-bearing course was given an F grade at the end of Semester 1.  Instead, seniors whose work would typically have received an F were given NC designations for their class.
• Additionally, at that time, seniors were also allowed to opt for a P grade in lieu of an A, B, C, or D grade.
• Third quarter grading followed the same guidance.

As we approach the end of the 2020-21 school year, these grading practices will remain in effect, with the following revision to the guidelines for NC for F grades:

• If a senior does not demonstrate effort to make up their NC grade by the end of the second semester, then the student will maintain their NC mark on their final transcript.

P GRADES – REQUESTS DUE JUNE 2

As with Semester 1 and 3^rd quarter grades, for seniors considering a P grade, the following steps must be taken:

1. Seniors will request a P for an A, B, C, or D grade prior to June 2 via Woodinville High School’s “P” Grade Request Google Form: https://forms.gle/8Eamjr5ieTVsHwjo9
2. Seniors and their parent/guardian will have a conversation* with the school counselor about the consequences of taking a P grade by June 11.
3. Seniors wishing to take a P grade, along with their parent/guardian, must sign a Secondary Mark (Grade) Change form that will be provided by their counselor after consultation. 
   1. Doing so will confirm the student’s choice and understanding of the implications on their transcript.
   2. Seniors must sign the Secondary Mark (Grade) Change form by June 14.

*During the conversation the point will be made that P grades may need to be explained to an enrollment officer.

NOTE:  Washington State History is a graduation requirement, but is not a credit-bearing course; therefore the NC option is not available for this course.

CLASS OF 2021:OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS FOR OUTSIDE CREDITS DUE TUESDAY, JUNE 1!

June 1 is the last day for seniors to complete and turn in official transcripts along with the Add to Transcript form to your counselor for outside credits (ex. Market Square, Red Comet, etc.). 

Remember it can take a few days to have the official transcript sent directly to your counselor from Market Square, Red Comet, etc., so get your class done ASAP!

Yearbook Lottery - Submit your name by June 1!!

If you didn’t purchase a yearbook you have one last opportunity to do so. 

WHS doesn't normally order extra books for those who didn't pre-pay. However, if the publisher ships extra books, which is not guaranteed each year, we will have a lottery drawing for those who would like to purchase a yearbook. If there are extra books available, students will be randomly selected to have the opportunity to purchase a yearbook ($45.00).

Students will be contacted if they were selected for the lottery using the email entered in the form on June 2. Your name will then be sent to Mrs. Kongkarat, the cashier/bookkeeper and she will add it to your Touchbase Account as a “fine”. You will be able to purchase it after June 2nd.

If you choose not to purchase the book, email both of us and we will take it off your account.

We do not have an exact date as to when we will be distributing the book (it’s coming from TX). Please pay attention to the WHS Website. If you aren't sure if you purchased a yearbook you can check your Touchbase Account.

Commencement Picture Taking Information: Pre-Register for GradImages!

Guests are welcome to take pictures from their seats at Pop Keeney Stadium.  Guests will not be permitted on stage or on the field to take pictures at any time, without exception.

With no obligation, “Grad Images” will take pictures of each graduate on the stage. Seniors are encouraged to preregister on the GradImages website at: https://www.gradimages.com/registration/Register?ClientID=100263&OccasionRef=157881

Grad Images will ask students to complete a registration card before the ceremony at Bothell High School. Students who do not preregister or provide an email address on the registration card will be contacted by U.S. mail. Parents/Guardians received an email for a survey from the district regarding tickets and were to submit one completed survey per family no later than Thursday, May 20 to help us plan.

• Every graduate will receive the same number of tickets.
• Notification to families regarding the number of tickets each graduate will receive will occur by May 28.

NHS Final Hours Submission

All final hours for National Honor Society members are due by 11:59 p.m. on March 26th, 2021. Students will upload documentation of at least 20 service hours total to the assignment on the NHS Schoology page. Please remember to submit ALL service hours for the year, including a resubmission of the hours submitted at the November check. 

Students who do not upload their final hours or did not meet requirements from the November check will not be considered for admission into National Honor Society for the 2021-2022 school year. (Yes, students are being inducted into NHS for next year.) Details will follow about the induction ceremony that will take place on May 20, 2021.

Students can view their "grade" on the NHS Schoology to check that they have met requirements for the year so far. There is no appeal process for not turning hours in on time or a cumulative GPA below 3.5.

Delivery of WHS Class of 2021 "We Love You" Yard Signs began Saturday, March 6!

WHS ASB, administration, faculty, and staff are glad to hear the positive feedback that the signs are welcome additions to our seniors' yards! 

The WHS Junior class designed the sign and organized the distribution to show their love for the class of 2021. Please know that there are a lot of signs to be delivered and most of them are being delivered by students. We are hoping each senior has a sign by Sunday, March 7, but it may take until Monday, March 8.

If you do not receive one by the end of the day Monday, March 8, please email WHS Activities Director Kurt Melton at kmelton@nsd.org and he will arrange for one to be delivered to your senior the week of March 8-12.

World Language Competency Testing: 12th-Grade 2020-21 Registration Open thru March 3

In the Northshore School District students can earn high school credit in a World Language by successfully passing a World Language Competency test and demonstrating your proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening. They may also earn a Seal of Biliteracy on their high school diploma for demonstrating a high level of proficiency.

Since the transition to distance learning due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the District has been exploring ways to offer testing to a limited number of students while maintaining the required test security protocols, as well as following all recommended safety guidelines for students and staff administering the tests. NSD is pleased to announce our plan for testing interested Northshore 12th grade students. The testing will be online using Zoom and proctors (observers who provide direction and answer questions throughout the testing).  

Registration is now open for all 12th grade students who are interested in being tested. It is important to have a firm number of students who will test in order for the District to move forward with planning.

Testing Information:

·       Registration dates: February 11 – March 3, 2021

·       Eligibility for registration: Northshore School District students in grade 12 ONLY. Priority will be given to students who need credits for graduation or college entrance requirements.

·       Remote testing date: To be determined based on registrations received. Registered students will be contacted with more information after the close of the registration period.

“Poppin 2021” – Follow Up on February 3, 8:00-9:50am!

“Poppin 2021” – An appreciation event for the Senior Class of 2021

ALL seniors are invited to drive through campus to pick up a "Poppin 2021" themed gift on Monday, January 25th, from 1-3 p.m.  We do ask that students driving through campus follow Covid-19 safety guidelines and wear a mask. Please be mindful of the following directions before joining us on Monday:

·       Enter through the main entrance and turn into the lower (teacher) parking lot.

·       Have a sign on your passenger side window that says, "Class of 2021" + your first and last name.

·       If you are picking up the gift for a sibling or friend, you must also have a sign for them as well.

This event coincides with our collection of materials event.  This allows seniors the opportunity to drop off materials and pick up their “Poppin 2021” gift without having to return to campus a second time.  The collection of materials is taking place in the “Main Car Loop” while our “Poppin 2021” event will occur in the lower staff parking lot.  Please see the map for location/directional information.

High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP) - Due January 31!

As announced at the January 8 advisory with Ms. Gerlinger, next steps include finishing your High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP), a graduation requirement, and applying for scholarships (not required, but helpful). 

• The High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP) is a requirement due by January 31, 2021. You can access assigned tasks via your Naviance account. The mandatory Senior advisory period on Friday 1/8 walked seniors through the process.
  • Watch the Zoom video.
• Ms. Gerlinger also has open sessions to assist seniors with the HSBP over these next three weeks (access her via her Ms. Gerlinger's Zoom Room Wednesday, January 13 and 27 from 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM).
• Ms. Allen is available Friday, January 29 from 10:55-11:55am at Lisa Allen's Zoom Room.

Senior Mid-Year Rank: Add to Transcripts due January 25 by 3pm

• IF you have any outside credits you want posted to your transcript, please send an official transcript from the outside school and a completed Add to Transcript form to your counselor by 3:00pm on January 25th. 
• If we do not receive them by the 25th, they will not be included in your GPA for class rank.  

First semester ends January 22nd

With the end of the semester approaching, we want to remind students to make the most of these last few weeks. Sometimes, the difference between one grade and the next is the completion of a few more assignments.
 
Here are some tips to end the semester strong:

• Talk with your teacher. Your teachers are the experts on the subject and are the best resource for the material. Stay after class to ask questions or visit them during office hours. Now is the time!
• Prioritize your missing assignments with your teachers: if you can't complete all of your outstanding assignments, make sure to spend your time doing the assignments that will give you the most amount of points. Talk with your teacher to make a plan.
• Start small. Is that list of missing assignments creating feelings of stress and anxiety? Instead of focusing on ALL your missing assignments, start with just one. Find your best study area and commit to working on that one nagging assignment for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, assess your status and determine if you can keep going or need to take a walk/snack break before continuing. Once you completed and turned in your assignment, make sure to brag about it and celebrate your success! 
• Reach out to your counselor! We are here to advocate for you and help you navigate through stress, anxiety, and concerns. We have many tools in our toolbox to help students address mental health concerns, academic planning, and for finding success in classes. We love to hear from you!
• Don't give up. Teachers love seeing students trying their best, especially when it's hard. "You won't succeed if you never try." Keep believing in yourself and doing the best you can do.

Missed the Graduation Info Zoom Webinar Friday Oct. 16th?

Seniors, did you miss the Senior Graduation Information Zoom Meeting on Friday, October 16? If so, Ms. Gerlinger, our College and Career Counselor, will be hosting two make-up sessions to answer any questions you may have. Please join her in her Zoom Room on Monday, October 19th at 11AM or 4PM to learn more about what you need to know!

Graduation Information Zoom Webinar - Friday, Oct 16, 1:25-1:55pm

On Friday, October 16,  1:25-1:55 p.m., ALL SENIORS ARE TO ATTEND a GRADUATION INFORMATION ZOOM. This includes Running Start Seniors! Juniors, sophomores, and freshmen students can schedule to meet with their advisor or advisors can request and schedule students to attend from 1:25-1:55 p.m. for support.

Advisors will provide Zoom links through Schoology for 9th, 10th, and 11th-grade students who schedule to meet or are scheduled by advisors to meet.

Seniors are invited to the initial Class of 2021 Senior Meeting on Friday, October 16. The meeting officially runs from 1:25-1:55 (during Advisory), but please feel free join us a bit early so we can start on time. You do not need to go to your assigned advisory on Friday. Simply click on the webinar link below to join the meeting. 

• This meeting is an important step toward getting ready for your high school graduation.
• At this time you will receive important information from Jostens about ordering your cap and gown, as well as other items that will help you celebrate this impressive achievement (please see the document that was attached to the email sent to seniors' @apps.nsd.org emails on Thursday, Oct 15).
• Your parents are also welcome to watch the webinar with you. 

Seniors should check their @apps.nsd.org email account for the Zoom webinar link that was emailed on Thursday, October 15!

The only students who will be marked absent from Advisory on Friday the 16th are:
1)  Seniors;

2) Juniors, sophomores, and freshmen who schedule to meet with their advisor and do not show; or

3) Juniors, sophomores, and freshmen scheduled by an advisor to meet and do not show

Printed Name Verification
Diplomas & Commencement Program!

Please accomplish this task by October 15!

1.    Please check your name/s you see printed on your high school transcript distributed at Falcon & Distribution Day (9/10 & 9/11)*. Your name/s reflect what we have in our student information system. It will show your legal name first and then your preferred/nickname underneath if you have gone by another name.

2.     Verify that all spelling, capitalization, and punctuation are correct or if corrections need to be made.

3.     Fill out the WHS Class of 2021 Printed Name Verification Google form completely https://forms.gle/6pjd5rHmC1qL3o2Q6 to indicate exactly how your name should be printed on your diploma and in the Commencement Program for graduation. If name changes are needed, documentation will need to be provided to Mrs. Porter at rporter2@nsd.org.

4.     This process is for name verification only with the submission/questions to Mrs. Porter at rporter2@nsd.org as noted on the Google form. Any questions regarding your transcript with relation to credits/grades should be submitted to your counselor.

Thursday, October 8th, Woodinville High School will be hosting a Financial Aid webinar starting at 7:00 p.m. 

David Aramaki, a Financial Advisor, will explain the different types of Financial Aid and will also speak about how parents can maximize their money when applying for the FAFSA. This information is applicable for parents of all grade levels.

Additionally, Karen McDonald, a board member of The Scholarship Foundation of Northshore, will share information about the many scholarships available only to Northshore School District senior students!

  We will be sending a zoom link to your emails so please be on the lookout for an email with the log in information included. We are limited to 300 guests but will record and post the zoom to the WHS website if you are unable to attend. We are here to support you through this challenging, yet exciting time! 

Class of 2021: Senior Transcript Review 
Deadline Tuesday, October 6

Seniors picked up transcripts at Falcon & Distribution Days.  Those who did not attend will receive their transcript in the mail. Upon review, seniors who have taken a course(s) outside of the Northshore School District and need it posted to their NSD transcript to fulfill graduation requirements and/or for college applications, MUST by Tuesday, October 6:

1. Submit a completed and signed Request to Add Course to Transcript form electronically to their counselor
2. Have an official transcript sent electronically directly from the out-of-district school to their counselor

Senior class rank is calculated once on Thursday, October 15.  Time is needed to process these requests.  Please adhere to the October 6 deadline.

FAFSA / WAFSA Open 10/1!

Seniors, as you continue to work on your college applications, know that our counselors are here to answer questions, review college essay drafts, upload transcripts, write letters of recommendation, and help you navigate through Common Application and Coalition websites. Don’t hesitate to reach out to your counselor for support! 

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens on October 1st, so mark your calendars, as this is a task you will want to complete sooner than later. You can access the FAFSA here.

EVERYONE who plans to attend ANY type of post-secondary school should fill out a FAFSA or WASFA (WASFA is for undocumented students), regardless of income levels.
