Great races. TERRIBLE FanFest!
Rice-Eccles Stadium - Salt Lake City
As usual, we love the venue and the races never disappoint. However, the FanFest was probably the the biggest cluster I've ever seen at this event. It was so poorly laid out that it wasn't possible to get from the north side to the south side due to the bottleneck created by the demo area and the stage. If something was going on at the demo area or on the stage, it wasn't physically possible to get from one are to the next. We finally gave up because the crowd wouldn't let people through and we never did see the south side which of course is where all the pits were. There should have been 1) a larger opening around that pinch point AND 2) another route to the south side someplace away from the stage and top (east) side of the demo area.

The Racing wàs what I expected.
Rice-Eccles Stadium - Salt Lake City
I came away wondering if next year will even be worth going to. The 250 Class were the only ones needing to race. And put on a good one. The 450s just needed to show up. No excitement. There is NO evacuation plan. Trying to tell 35,000 people to leave their seats (every 2 minutes) and go all the way out to the parking lot (which is still out in the elements.) is only the stadium trying to minimize it's liability in case something happens. I asked the Staff personnel and they didn't know where to go. We just stood on the steps and watched the clouds go by. The Fan Zone has been rearranged for the worse. We didn't even have access to the Independent racers. The Factory trailers were put together so tight you could only get three people wide down them and then you had turn around and fight your way back because the Isle wàs closed at the end, should have had access to go around to the next row. There was more room to be used because there was a huge area by the food trucks that had nothing. Not even tables, which would have been nice. Call me a grumpy old racer but the show is losing it's appeal. For the price of the tickets now days the values not there. Next year I'll skip the Zone and wait till the week of and buy the nose bleeds. That's if the racers aren't injured and have a reason to be there.

Fanfest Nightmare
Rice-Eccles Stadium - Salt Lake City
Fanfest was the most horrible experience I’ve ever had. We paid almost $100 for us to go walk the pits and take in the experience. We literally got 20 feet in the gate and had to turn around and walk out. You COULD NOT MOVE! I don’t know if it was how they had it set up or if there was just that many people in there. I would say it was worse than a mosh pit at a rock concert. We were so bummed to have wasted the money for not even the slightest experience.

SLC SX Finale
Rice-Eccles Stadium - Salt Lake City
Overall, the SLC SX finale was a great event. There were two Fan Fest entry points (although that may not have been known by all) so it was very easy to go from my parking spot into the Fan Fest without dealing with large crowds. The pits were set up well, for the most part, but at one point the smoke for the tire burnout show near the Monster rig was a bit concerning as some enjoyed the closeness, where others did not. It was hard to get around the crowd if you wanted to avoid the smoke and noise. The racing itself was exciting as expected. The FELD VIP events were fun as well, especially the Friday Press Conference/Press Ride/Luncheon/Track Walk. Other than the evacuation due to a nearby storm, the event was well executed. I look forward to doing it all again!

Great venue, great race, logistical nightmare
Rice-Eccles Stadium - Salt Lake City
The race was great, the fanfest was fun. Getting into fanfest was a clusterfrump. Seriously - first we are searched (fine), then we are stamped. Good to go? No - then we have to scan to enter our stadium tickets. Fine. Can we get into Fanfest? No - you have to enter the stadium, walk up the stairs to stadium, then back down another set of stairs to get to fanfest. But it's right there - can't I just walk there? NO! You must walk up the stairs and down the stairs to comply! Weather evacuation - you'd think they would have had practice last year. Two years in a row we are shuttled out of the stadium and back in. This year was slightly better - they still had no place for us to go -- mostly because of the up the stairs, down the stairs way we had to enter. Mass Exodus after the race. For some reason, they are not allowing anyone to exit the way we came in - over the tracks. Seriously, we got here early and parked RIGHT THERE. NO YOU MUST BE FUNNELED WITH THE REST OF THE CROWD TO THE TRAX STATION ENTRANCE!! But we drove here and parked right there - I can see my car? NO WAIT THROUGH A HALFHOUR OF A CROWD NOT MOVING TO FUNNEL THROUGH A SMALL GATE WHEN YOU AREN'T EVEN TAKING THE TRAIN! Again - it seems to fit the theme of cluster-logistics. A great race, lots of action - perfect weather (apart from a 5 minute thunderstorm that anyone looking at a weather app knew was barely hitting the stadium). $17 for nuts seems a little steep, but hey - they were some good pecans.

Crowd management nightmare
Rice-Eccles Stadium - Salt Lake City
The crowd management throughout the entirety of the event was horrible. This was especially highlighted when everyone needed to evacuate the bowl due to inclement weather. Crowds of people trapped shoulder to shoulder with no movement or direction on where the emergency staging points were. I will definitely think twice about coming to events here.

Good racing, horrible privateer pit setup
Rice-Eccles Stadium - Salt Lake City
Awesome as always but what you did for the privateer pits was messed up.

evacuation
Rice-Eccles Stadium - Salt Lake City
It would be nice if we were in a NFL or MLB stadium. The people were uninformed about the event or surrounding. We had to evacuate the stadium for second year in a row. This will be my last event at this venue.

Race awesome, pits, fan zone not so much.
Rice-Eccles Stadium - Salt Lake City
We got to the races early so we could hang out in the pits and see the riders. After purchasing 5 pit passes which by the way, why do they charge for pit passes? We got to the fan zone and the small area that lead over to the pits was completely jammed with people standing watching a show. We tried for 45 minutes to get thru and finally gave up and went to our seats. Totally disappointed as these cost $75. Although the races were awesome, the total experience was disappointing especially after driving 6 hours to get there.
