Mark Siegel’s professional career has spanned the political, government, academic and private sectors.  He has served as Executive Director of the Democratic National Committee, as Deputy Assistant to the President and as a congressional Chief of Staff as well as an elected member of the Democratic National Committee. As a long-term board member of National Democratic Institute of International Affairs he monitored elections in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Chile.  In addition to the Center for Global Affairs, he has taught at George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management, at the American University, at the University of Maryland, and at Loyola University of Chicago.  As an international consultant he represented the governments of Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Aruba, Bosnia, and the Maldives among others. He collaborated with the late Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto on the international best-seller “Reconciliation:  Islam, Democracy and the West” and co-produced a documentary on her life after her assassination that won a Peabody Award.  He holds a B.A. from Brooklyn College and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Northwestern University, all in Political Science.
