COVID-19 FAQs

Saklan follows the Contra Costa County Health Department's guidance when dealing with COVID. The latest county guidance on isolation and quarantine after testing positive for COVID can be found here.
Students and staff members that test positive for COVID must isolate if they have symptoms or a fever.
  • If they do not have symptoms, symptoms are mild and improving and they are fever-free for 24 hours without using fever-reducing medicine: isolation can end, but students must mask while indoors through day 10.
  • If they have a fever: isolation should be continued until 24 hours after fever resolves
  • If they have symptoms (other than a fever) that are not improving: continue to isolate until their symptoms are improving

When Saklan learns of a positive case, we will alert all families whose children could be considered a close contact. Under current guidance students can continue attending school after exposure, if they are asymptomatic.

Students returning to campus from a positive case need to mask through day 10.

A person is considered to have had close contact if they shared an indoor air space for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period during the infected person's infectious period.

Students can continue to attend school as long as they are symptom free.

We are planning to hold our annual field experiences. Students may be asked to take a COVID-19 test before departing for the trip.
Saklan will not be offering a distance learning program. If students need to quarantine due to COVID-19 illness, they will be given individual work to keep up with what students are doing in class.
