4-H Cloverbud Day Camp 2022

Makayla Stommel, Fond du Lac County 4-H Summer Intern

This year 4-H is offering three Cloverbud Day Camps to youth who have completed Kindergarten – 2nd grade and the first one was held on Wednesday, June 29. It was an “Out of this World” experience! Youth leaders and two volunteer leaders helped plan this day camp to make it a success! The youth leaders and the 4-H summer intern led many activities with the supervision of two volunteer leaders. The youth who participated started the morning off by learning everyone’s names with a couple of games. The campers decorated their own kites and flew them later in the day. Next, the campers played some space related games such as Alien Tag, Flying Asteroid, and Wah Master. In the late morning, the youth decorated film canisters and made them into mini rockets that they shot off using water and Alka Seltzer tablets. The campers then made a galaxy jar using cotton balls, water, paint, and glitter. They turned out great and looked like a real galaxy! Next, the youth made paper airplanes and helicopters that flew very well. To finish off the day, the campers made name rockets and ate a fruit rocket.

The next two camps will be a Day on the Farm held on July 27 at the Halbur Farm where youth will learn about animals and participate in animal activities, crafts, and games. The last Cloverbud Day Camp is outdoor survival held on August 17 at the UWO Fond du Lac Campus. Youth will be exploring the great outdoors using GPS tracking and making their own solar oven!
