VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – IUP track & field standout
Kendall Branan raced to a seventh-place finish in Saturday's 800m finals at the 2023 NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships, held in Virginia Beach.
Branan, who earns All-American status with his time of 1:50.69, advanced to the finals on a runner's interference appeal on Friday.
"I'm so proud of Kendall's great effort following yesterday's hard fall," IUP head coach
Joey Zins said. "He started fast like he wanted and later showed a ton of guts in the final lap to get on the podium."
Oussama El Bouchayby, a freshman from Angelo State, took medalist honors in the event with a 1:48.76 for a new meet record.
Brannan zipped past two competitors over the final 200 meters to earn a spot on the podium for the Hakws.
"Kendall's race concludes a great indoor season," Zins continued. "I'm looking forward to what the outdoor season has in store."
