On March 1, 2023, medical anthropologist Abigail Adams presented a workshop for the Leadership in a Multicultural Society Series, titled "Fear and Empathy."

Adams discussed empathy as the ability to identify and understand other people’s emotions and how it is a central part of being human. When we experience fear, the physiological response to the unknown, we become incapable of practicing empathy. Adams discussed the ways in which knowledge bridges the gap between fear and empathy, moving us toward a more just and connected world.

There were 41 students in attendance.
