Police received a call about 10:30 a.m. Monday for a shooting.
The scene was at North 12th at West Locust streets.
Police said the victims ranged in age from 14 to 41.
They were identified as:
- Demetrius R. Thomas, 14
- Tera R. Agee, 16
- Lakeitha M. Stokes, 17
- Marcus G. Stokes, 19
- Teresa R. Thomas, 41
Police Chief Alfonso Morales said a 43-year-old Milwaukee man called police to say his family was dead.
His name has not been released.
The caller was arrested at the scene and police said a weapon was recovered.
Investigators have not said how the suspect and victims were related.
Mayor Tom Barrett said a toddler found at the home.
The child evaluated for injuries.
"I think that child is fine," Barrett said. "The loss of life is something I take very seriously, and this is obviously a horrific incident in our city."
It's not clear what may have led to the shooting.
Police said there was still an active investigation into the crime.
There was not an ongoing threat to the community.
Dozens of neighborhood residents gathered at the scene and did not appear to be social distancing.
No other details were immediately available.
