REPORTER: INVESTIGATORS WERE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW THIS HAPPENED, AS WELL AS WHY THIS HAPPENED. THE CRIME SCENE TAPE REPLACED WITH A MEMORIAL TO THE VICTIMS. TONIGHT, PRAYERS AMIDST PAIN. A MOMENT TO HONOR THE FIVE LIVES LOST. THE YOUNGEST AMONG THOSE VICTIMS JUST 14-YEARS-OLD. >> IT’S ENOUGH. THEY’RE KILLING OUR FAMILIES. MILWAUKEE IS BETTER THAN THIS. >> I AM SICK TO MY STOMACH RIGHT NOW WITH THIS VIOLENCE. >> IT’S TOO MUCH GOING ON WITH THIS CORONAVIRUS. PEOPLE JUST NEED TO THINK BEFORE THEY REACT. REPORTER: ALSO TONIGHT, THE SEARCH FOR A MOTIVE. WHY WOULD SOMEONE KILL THE GROUP INSIDE A HOME NEAR 12TH AND LOCUST MONDAY MORNING? INVESTIGATORS HOPE THOSE ANSWERS WILL COME FROM THE PERSON THEY HAVE IN CUSTODY, THE MAN WHO CALLED 911. >> MILWAUKEE POLICE DEPARTMENT RECEIVED A CALL FROM AN INDIVIDUAL WHO STATED THAT HIS FAMILY WAS DEAD. REPORTER: WHILE POLICE TELL US THERE’S NO EXISTING THREAT TO THE PUBLIC, THERE IS COLLECTIVE GRIEF. >> THIS IS AN EMOTIONAL THING FOR EVERYBODY INVOLVED, EVEN IF FOLKS DIDN’T KNOW THEM DIRECTLY. TO HEAR SOMEBODY LOST THEIR CHILD, TO SEE SOMEBODY CRYING, IT’S EMOTIONAL FOR EVERYBODY. REPORTER: AT SEVERAL POINTS THE AREA AROUND THE CRIME SCENE WAS EXTREMELY CROWDED, A CONCERN FOR HEALTH OFFICIALS DURING THE ONGOING PANDEMIC BECAUSE OF THE PEOPLE AND POLICE ALL GATHERED IN ONE PLACE. >> DOESN’T APPEAR ANY OF THOSE OFFICERS IN THAT AREA ARE WEARING MASKS. Milwaukee police said five people were found dead in a Milwaukee home.

Milwaukee police said five people were found dead in a Milwaukee home. Police received a call about 10:30 a.m. Monday for a shooting.The scene was at North 12th at West Locust streets.Police said the victims ranged in age from 14 to 41.They were identified as:Demetrius R. Thomas, 14 Tera R. Agee, 16 Lakeitha M. Stokes, 17 Marcus G. Stokes, 19 Teresa R. Thomas, 41Police Chief Alfonso Morales said a 43-year-old Milwaukee man called police to say his family was dead. His name has not been released.The caller was arrested at the scene and police said a weapon was recovered.Investigators have not said how the suspect and victims were related.Mayor Tom Barrett said a toddler found at the home.The child evaluated for injuries."I think that child is fine," Barrett said. "The loss of life is something I take very seriously, and this is obviously a horrific incident in our city."It's not clear what may have led to the shooting.Police said there was still an active investigation into the crime.There was not an ongoing threat to the community.Dozens of neighborhood residents gathered at the scene and did not appear to be social distancing.No other details were immediately available.
