NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Police in Macon County say it was not a violation for a School Resource Officer to keep an AR-15 at school after the rifle was stolen by two teenagers.

The Macon County Sheriff's office arrested 19-year-old Adam Cisneros Thursday night after he turned himself in for the Wednesday night theft. Another suspect, Lee Clark, 18, was arrested around lunchtime Thursday. According to Chief Deputy Bryon Satterfield, officers responded to Red Boiling High School and found broken windows, wires pulled from the camera system, a missing bullet-proof vest, and an AR-15 which belonged to the SRO.

The rifle and vest were taken out of a locked safe in the SRO's office. It is believed Cisneros broke directly into the SRO's office to gain entry.

Satterfield says the SRO did not violate any rules because the rifle was locked up and being a sworn deputy, it is legal for him to have the rifle in school. Satterfield added the rifle is for protection in case of a bad situation.

Satterfield would not say if other SROs keep AR-15s in their schools. Police are also looking for another suspect believed to have been involved in the break-in.

Pending further investigation there could be additional charges.
