Read: What Mayor Wu said about Boston schools Superintendent Brenda Cassellius stepping down

Both the mayor and the superintendent released letters on Monday announcing the "mutual" decision.

In a trio of letters Monday, Mayor Michelle Wu, Boston Public Schools Superintendent Brenda Cassellius, and Boston School Committee Chair Jeri Robinson announced Cassellius will step down from her post at the end of the school year.

Wu wrote the three parties reached the “mutual decision” after several days of conversation over the district’s “progress, future, and leadership.”
