Six former athletes selected to SUNYAC All-Decade Team

The State University of New York Athletic Conference announced today that six former SUNY Oneonta athletes have been selected to the SUNYAC Women's Track & Field All-Decade Team.  The team is comprised of only 65 former track & field athletes from the member institutions and was selected by the conference's Sports Information Directors.
 
The list of honorees from Oneonta include Lauren Brunetto '12, Kayla Clohessy '18, Alyssa Drapeau '16, Liz Maziejka '11, Meghan Serdock '17 and Rachael Shine '17.  Both Drapeau and Shine were honored as selections to the SUNYAC Cross Country All-Decade Team as well.
 
Brunetto was a top middle-distance performer for the Red Dragons from 2008-12.  During her career, she was a five-time indoor national qualifier and two-time All-American.
 
Brunetto went back-to-back in 2010 and 2011 with her indoor All-American honors.  In 2010, she was sixth in the 800-meter run and, in 2011, was eighth in the same event.  In 2011, she was the ECAC Division III indoor champion in the 800.
 
Brunetto was a four-time SUNYAC champion, seven-time medalist and three-time All-Conference performer.
 
Brunetto still holds the program record in the 600-meter run (1:37.25) and has the third fastest time in both the 800 (2:13.76) and 1000 meters (3:04.35).
 
In 2010, Brunetto was named to the SUNYAC All-Academic Team.
 
Clohessy was a top long jumper for the track & field program from 2014-18 earning All-American honors three times during her career.
 
Clohessy's All-American honors came in consecutive years at the NCAA indoor and outdoor championships.  In 2016 and 2017, she finished seventh overall indoors and in 2016, she finished eighth outdoors.  Clohessy also qualified for the NCAA championships during at total of five times.
 
Clohessy captured the SUNYAC indoor title in the long jump in 2016.  She was a two-time SUNYAC All-Conference honoree and was a medalist three times for finishing in the top-3.  She also was a top-5 performer in the Atlantic Region to earn All-Region honors twice.
 
Clohessy holds both the indoor and outdoor program records in the long jump.  Her indoor record stands at 5.77 meters (18'-11 ¼") and her outdoor mark is 5.87 meters (19'-3 ¼").  She also has recorded the fourth fastest time in the indoor 60-meter hurdles at 9.37 seconds.
 
As a senior, Clohessy was the recipient of the Dr. Delores Bogard Award, which is the highest honor that can be bestowed on a female student-athlete in the SUNYAC.  Clohessy was inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society and was a three-time USTFCCCA Scholar Athlete.
 
Drapeau competed on the track & field team during the years of 2013-16.  During her three seasons with Oneonta, she was a two-time SUNYAC champion and two-time NCAA qualifier.  Drapeau won the outdoor 5K at the 2015 conference championship and followed the next year by capturing the 10K.  Both of Drapeau's NCAA championship appearances came as a senior where she qualified for both the indoor and outdoor meets.
 
Drapeau earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors twice, was four times a SUNYAC All-Conference performer while earning five medals for top-3 finishes at the conference championships.
 
Drapeau currently holds the indoor program record in the 5K (17:19.61) and the outdoor 10K mark (35:15.95).
 
Maziejka was the program's top intermediate hurdler during her career that spanned 2008-11.  Her career culminated in 2010 when she earned All-American honors at the NCAA outdoor championship with a seventh place finish in the 400-meter hurdles.
 
In all, Maziejka was a two-time national qualifier, three-time SUNYAC champion, three-time All-Conference performer and an 8-time SUNYAC medalist.
 
Maziejka was also earned SUNYAC All-Academic Team status twice during her four years.
 
Serdock is the most decorated thrower in women's program history competing during the years of 2013-17.  Her career included three All-American honors and being a four-time SUNYAC champion.
 
Serdock's first All-American honor came in 2016 at the NCAA Division III outdoor championships where she placed third in the hammer throw.  She matched that performance at the 2017 national championships to cap her final season for the Red Dragons.  Earlier in 2017, at the NCAA indoor championships, Serdock earned her only indoor All-American honor with a third place finish in the weight throw.
 
Serdock was a four-time national qualifier earning berths twice during both the indoor and outdoor seasons including her first in 2016 during the indoor season.  She captured the SUNYAC weight throw title twice and the hammer title twice in earning her four conference championships.  She also won the 2016 hammer throw at the ECAC Division III championship meet.
 
Serdock earned SUNYAC All-Conference honors six times and was a USTFCCCA All-Region performer four times.  She holds the women's program records for the weight throw (18.59 meters, 61'-0") and hammer throw (58.07 meters, 190'-6 ¼") while currently holding the SUNYAC championship meet record in the hammer (56.68 meters), which she set in 2017.
 
During her career, Serdock was named to the SUNYAC All-Academic Team twice.
 
Shine is arguably one of the greatest student athletes in the history of SUNY Oneonta athletics.  From 2013-17, Shine was an accomplished student and athlete, not only in the sport of cross country, but track & field.
 
Shine's first All-American honor came in 2015 when she placed third in the 800-meter run at the NCAA Division III indoor national championships.  She capped her senior year with a pair of All-American honors at the NCAA outdoor championships placing 8th in the 800 and 5th in the 1500-meter run.  Overall, Shine was a nine-time national qualifier and seven-time USTFCCCA All-Region performer.
 
Shine was a nine-time SUNYAC champion, seven-time medalist and four-time All-Conference performer in track & field.  Her performances at the 2015 outdoor and 2016 indoor championships earned her the Most Outstanding Female Track Athlete of the Meet honor.  Shine helped to lead the Red Dragons to the program's only indoor and outdoor SUNYAC team titles in 2016.
 
At the conference level, Shine currently holds the indoor record in the 800 (2:10.25) and the outdoor record in the 1500 (4:27.16).  She also owns the conference championship meet marks for both the indoor 800 (2;13.50) and mile (4:58.52) as well as the outdoor 800 (2:10.02).  Shine currently holds the women's program records in the 800, 3K and distance medley relay events while holding the outdoor program records in the 800, 1500, 3K, 4x800 and 4x400-meter relays.
 
Academically, Shine was a six-time USTFCCCA Scholar Athlete in track & field while earning honors three times in cross country.  She was named to the SUNYAC All-Academic Team six times and the Commissioner's List four times while being named to the Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll during her final year of competition.  Shine was selected by the conference Sports Information Directors as the 2016 female Cross Country Scholar Athlete of the Year.
 
Shine was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society and was twice selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 First Team.  Shine's culminating honor academically came in 2017 when she was a recipient of a SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence, which is the highest honor SUNY can bestow on a student.
