Prior to starting Troutwood, Gene spent 17-years working with large pension funds and institutional investors. He is an award-winning author (The Missing Semester) who has key-noted investment and education conferences across the country and spoken in over 500 high school and college classrooms. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from Allegheny College, and an MBA with a concentration in finance from Carnegie Mellon University. Gene is also a board member of CFA Society Pittsburgh, part-time lecturer at the University of Pittsburgh and Executive in Residence at Penn State Behrend. He, his wife, four children and chocolate lab, live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Rachel is responsible for customer interaction and brand development. Her primary role involves coordinating beta tests and cultivating relationships with our users to inform product development. While working at Troutwood, Rachel completed her Master’s in Speech Language Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh, with a minor in Social Work. Over the course of her collegiate career, Rachel completed clinical rotations in hospitals across the Pittsburgh region, serving a range of patients from preemie babies to veterans. Rachel started as an intern at Troutwood during the company's 2019 launch.

Eric possesses a rare combination of finance and technical know-how built over an 18-year career working in finance and banking. His primary responsibility is keeping the development queue filled with financial modeling tools that assist Troutwood users in making informed personal financial decisions. Eric earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and has successfully passed both exams related to the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) credential. He holds a bachelor's degree in Finance from Duquesne University and an MBA with a concentration in Finance from Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business. Eric is a board member of CFA Society Pittsburgh, teaches graduate-level finance at La Roche University, and actively plans and executes events promoting financial literacy throughout the Pittsburgh region. His self-admitted “habit of running too many marathons each year” does afford him the opportunity to travel and explore cities across the country. He, his wife Diane, and three children – Sophie, Lucy, and Ryan – call Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania their home.

Jeff is responsible for product development and placement, interpretation of market conditions, customer needs and data aggregation. Before Troutwood, Jeff spent his career working with institutional investors across the nation, including time at a global investment bank and 14 years as partner and senior vice president of a top-ranked asset-management firm. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Allegheny College and enjoys teaching finance in his spare time at Grove City College. Previously, Jeff served on the advisory board of the Pennsylvania Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems and as a member of numerous organizations dedicated to trustee education and pension reform. Home is in Pittsburgh – just a few blocks from Carnegie Mellon – with his wife, two children, and their mischievous golden retriever, Max.

Maggie’s primary role involves working on digital content such as web design and development, graphic design, and content creation across a multitude of platforms. Prior to working at Troutwood full-time, Maggie graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, with a minor in Economics. Maggie started as an intern at Troutwood during the company’s 2019 launch, and the rest is history! Born and raised in Pittsburgh, she currently resides there and enjoys watching movies, going to spinning classes, and spending time with friends.

Yazid, a Fulbright scholar, is an accomplished software engineer who pursued his MS in Information Technology - Software Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. He also holds an Engineering Degree from the Higher National School of Engineers in Tunis. Having embarked on his professional journey in 2012, Yazid has rendered his expertise to renowned organizations including Siemens, the Max Plank Society, Airbus, and Volkswagen.
His technical proficiency spans multiple programming languages, frameworks, cloud and AI, alongside hands-on experience in DevOps and software architecture. Yazid is enjoys reading and writing about technical topics, and is passionate about sharing technical insights, mentoring budding developers, and driving innovative solutions within the team. Beyond the tech world, Yazid cherishes moments riding motorcycles, practicing martial arts, and exploring archery. He currently resides in beautiful Lower Saxony, Germany, with his beloved wife and son.

Evimar is an experienced Software Engineer with certifications in AI, Machine Learning, Data Science and Big Data Analysis. She has a problem-solving mindset with a passion for data structure and algorithms. Prior to working at Troutwood full-time, she spent 4 years developing financial tools, and before that was a system engineer and DBA. She believes in continuous self-improvement, and lives with her husband, three children and several pets.

Peter likes to work between design and programming to create educational interactive experiences. He was part of Troutwood's Finulator team from the beginning, responsible for game design and front end development. Currently, he works as a front-end developer for Troutwood. Peter approaches software as a dialog between user and developer- rather than showing you what to do, software needs to give players and users the opportunity to test the limits of what they can do. Peter received a bachelors in Fine Arts with a minor in Game Design from Carnegie Mellon University. He currently lives in West Hempstead, NY.

Kyle is a software engineer with experience leading projects and teams through his consulting firm ANTLR Interactive. He has over a decade of experience in regulated environments like healthcare and banking and is a Sitepoint author. His mobile and Ruby on Rails projects have been featured on TechCrunch, ABC, CBS, and USA Today. Currently, he resides in Pittsburgh with his wife, Nicole, and two cats, Ruby and Jasper. When he is not building products, he likes to eat.

Kevin graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2014 with a degree in Computer Science and recently completed his Master’s of Software Engineering at CMU. Prior to joining Troutwood, Kevin worked in the healthcare space developing a speech recognition application used by radiologists worldwide to help them quickly and more accurately dictate reports. In his spare time, he enjoys training in martial arts (Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu), salsa and bachata dancing, and playing guitar.

Ashwin is from the sunny, touristy state of Goa, India. He comes with a mix of experiences since growing up in the Bahrain until he was 16, and then moved to India for undergratuate school. Before moving to the U.S. to pursue a Master's in Software Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, Ashwin worked at 4 different companies as a Full-Stack Software Engineer; spanning startups to India's leading eCommerce and online fashion companies. Outside of work he is either cycling around Shadyside, playing Tennis with his mates, or screaming at the television when Formula1 is on (any Alonso / Verstappen fans here?). He also enjoys cooking and experimenting with different cuisines!

Richard is a software engineer with a passion for web and mobile development, tools and infrastructure. He is proficient in many languages (Bash, JavaScript, HTML, CSS), libraries (React/React Native, Node, Python), tools (Git) and platforms (AWS). He has over 10 years of professional experience including system design from inception to beautiful UI/UX publishing and implementation. He likes to play table tennis and badminton in his spare time.

Sadiya Ameen is a skilled software engineer with a Master's Degree in Software Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. She is currently working as a backend engineer at Troutwood. Before her master’s, she worked as a software engineer at an autonomous driving car company in India, where she gained invaluable experience in the field. She is deeply passionate about technology and software engineering practices. She enjoys problem-solving and approaches every challenge with creativity and enthusiasm. Sadiya has various interests outside work. She is an avid reader and enjoys listening to podcasts to stay up to date with the latest developments in the industry. In her free time, she loves to play musical instruments and indulge in movies and TV shows.

Alan graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a double major in Computer Science and Pre Medicine. After some time in both the healthcare and tech industry, he returned to higher education at Carnegie Mellon University, where he earned a Master's in Software Engineering with a focus in Scalable Systems. For fun, he enjoys ultimate frisbee, training Jiu-Jitsu, and programming in personal projects. Among Alan's favorite personal projects was a set of twitter bots he developed. One of them went viral, reaching over a hundred thousand followers!
