Plowboy Records

Plowboy Records was established in 2012 promote and further the legacy of late Country Music Hall of Fame member Eddy Arnold and to also provide a platform for additional recorded projects that focus on the creation of authentic music regardless of genre. The mission of Plowboy Records is to not only serve as a caretaker to the legacy of Eddy Arnold, but to reintroduce his music and influence to a new generation through legacy related projects and “out of the box” record by artists who bridge the gap between what was and what will be the future. Many of our artists are legends and trailblazers in their own right and have had a signifiant impact on music and culture.

Eddy Arnold’s success in Nashville and beyond is legendary as his crossover success he enjoyed in the post war 1940s through the 1960s was one of the most compelling forces that drove major record labels into establishing deeper roots into Nashville.

Plowboy Records was founded in 2012 by Eddy’s grandson, R. Shannon Pollard, historian Dr. Don Cusic & certified punk legend Cheetah Chrome.

In early 2012, one of the first goals as a label was to reintroduce Bobby Bare to a national Americana fan base and therefore to remind voters within The Country Music Association that Bobby Bare is worthy of induction into The Country Music Hall of Fame. Our efforts with his 2012 ‘Darker Than Light’ album (produced by Don Cusic) led to his nomination, and eventual induction in November 2013 alongside Kenny Rogers and Cowboy Jack Clement.

On May 14th, 2013, we released a 19 track multi-artist/multi-genre tribute to Eddy Arnold titled, ‘You Don’t Know Me: Rediscovering Eddy Arnold that was co-produced by Don Cusic and Cheetah Chrome, an original member of Rocket From The Tombs, The Dead Boys and The Batusis (w/Sylvain Sylvain). Some of the artists involved are Alejandro Escovedo, Bobby Bare, Jr., Frank Black of The Pixies, Jason Isbell, Mary Gauthier, Peter Noone, Chris Scruggs, Jason Ringenberger, Pete Mroz, Pokey LaFarge, Lambchop and Drivin’ N’ Cryin’ and the late Sylvain Sylvain of The New York Dolls.
