Galloway, N.J. – The Stockton University men's and women's track & field teams qualified for
All-Academic Team honors from the U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2021 season.
The Stockton women's team, coached by
Todd Curll, registered a 3.59 team grade point average that tied for 67th in NCAA Division III in GPA. The Osprey men's squad, coached by
Jayson Resch, tied for 26th in the nation with a 3.53 grade point average.
The Stockton programs were first out of three NJAC men's teams and second out of four NJAC women's teams on the list.
In addition to the team honors, five Stockton student-athletes qualified as USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes individually. The two men's qualifiers were thrower
Darren Wan (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) and distance runner
Kyle Navalance (Toms River/TR North). Wan qualified for the second consecutive time.
Three qualifiers from the Stockton women's team were high jumper
Susann Foley (Tabernacle/Seneca) and pole vaulters
Jeanmarie Harvey (River Edge/River Dell) and
Lauren Preston (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser). Foley and Harvey each qualified as USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes for the straight season.
In order to qualify, competitors needed to have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher and finished the season ranked in the top 50 in the nation in an individual event or top 35 nationally in a relay.
Stockton competed in 10 meets during the 2021 outdoor season, with the women's team finishing second and the men's team placing third at the NJAC Championships. Preston garnered All-American honors for her fifth-place finish in the pole vault at the NCAA Championships while Wan finished 10th in the hammer throw at the NCAA Championships.
Foley, Navalance and Wan also received USTFCCCA All-Atlantic Region accolades this spring. Foley, Navalance, Preston and Wan were voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America this month as well.
