Stockton Opens Conference Play with Sweep

Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (9-2, 1-0 NJAC) swept Rowan University (7-5, 0-1) 3-0 in a match that was the conference opener for both teams and first home match of the season for the Ospreys. Stockton was efficient on offense, producing a .398 hitting percentage.
 
Sarah Walsh (Flemington/Hunterdon Central) led the attack with a match-high 11 kills and Charlotte Leon (Northport, N.Y./Northport) added nine kills. Julie Kohlhoff (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) tallied eight kills with no errors on 12 attempts for a torrid .667 hitting percentage.
 
Emily Sullivan (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) dished 36 assists and tossed in six kills of her own. Christie Louer (Clifton/Clifton) served a match-high four aces and registered six digs.
 
Stockton briefly trailed 11-10 in the first set before outscoring the Profs 15-5 the rest of the way to win 25-16. The Ospreys took control of the second set with a seven-point spree that gave them a 15-9 lead. Kohlhoff sparked the run with two kills. Leon later spiked two kills during a clinching 7-2 run that gave Stockton a 25-16 victory.
 
The Ospreys fell behind 7-3 in the third set before taking over with a 15-3 outburst highlighted by three kills from Kohlhoff and two by Leon. The Ospreys led 18-10 after the run and closed out the match 25-19.
 
Natalie Ogden paced Rowan with nine kills and six digs. Setters Tori Mock and Alaina Santacroce dealt 13 and 11 assists respectively, with Santacroce also contributing five digs.
 
Stockton will play in the Stevens Ducks Classic this weekend. On Friday, the Ospreys will face Stevens and New Paltz at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. respectively, then play Cabrini at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
