Stockton Extends Win Streak with 1-0 Win

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (6-1) stretched their winning streak to four straight matches, with a 1-0 victory over Eastern University (3-3) on Wednesday night.  Susan Porambo (Millersville, PA/Penn Manor) scored the only goal of the night, that turned into the game winning tally. Stockton has outscored their opponents during the streak by a 17-2 margin.

The Ospreys jumped out quickly, squeezing off a shot 23 seconds in by Kiersten Reszkowski (Freehold/Freehold Twp.). Stockton kept up the pressure until Porambo potted her team-leading fifth goal of the season at 15:20 of the first half.

The sophomore was able to gain the end line and from a severe angle to the left of the goal, she fired a shot that deflected off the Eagles netminder and creeped in the near post for the 1-0 lead. The Ospreys dominated the play for the rest of the half, holding a 13-1 advantage in shots, with 10 on net.

Stockton fired six more shots on net during the final period but was unable to score another goal. The Osprey defense was outstanding, holding the visitors to just one shot in each half.

Porambo led the offense with six shots, five being on goal, while Reszkowski, Salena LeDonne (Parsippany/Parsippany) and Alexa Simonetti (Wayne/Wayne Valley) getting three shot attempts each.

Jennifer Devault (Mullica Hill/Kingsway) posted her first career shutout with a two-save effort in net for Stockton.

Eagles goalkeeper Grace Schreckengast was outstanding, making 12 saves and allowing just the one goal.

Stockton will begin NJAC conference on Saturday, when the Ospreys will travel to Union, NJ to face Kean University. Game time is scheduled for 1pm.
