Accessing Windows Applications @ UNCG (AppCat)

Some Windows applications are accessible from the network for faculty and staff to use on a UNCG-owned computer. For information about what software is available, see Software @ UNCG and the Available Software web page.

Most Windows software is available through the Application Catalog (AppCat), which is installed on all UNCG-owned computers running Windows. Follow the steps below to access software via AppCat.

Note: If you are not on campus, you will need to use UNCG's Virtual Private Network (VPN) client on your UNCG-owned computer to access AppCat and download software.

Install Apps from AppCat

  1. Double-click on the Application Catalog (AppCat) icon on your desktop.
  2. AppCat will open and you will see a list of any applications that are available to you. You can also search for the application using the Search box in the upper-right corner:

  3. To install an application, click its icon to open the Application Details screen and then click Install

NOTE: If you see a pop-up window with “New software is available” above the Application Catalog icon in your System Tray,
System tray showing message "New software is available"
this simply means that your available updates and patches may be viewed in the Application Catalog. To open the Application Catalog, double-click on the icon in the System Tray. However, no action is required of you.
