Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University junior
Luc Swedlund (Randolph/Randolph) was voted to the
CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 Men's At-Large Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America for the second consecutive year. Swedlund, an attack for the Stockton men's lacrosse team, has a 3.85 grade point average as a History Education major.
The At-Large category includes a variety of sports such as lacrosse, golf, volleyball, wrestling, ice hockey, tennis and swimming. Swedlund is the third Stockton men's lacrosse player ever to receive CoSIDA Academic All-District recognition (Ryan McQuilken 2005,
Dan Lamela 2014).
Swedlund, a three-year starter for the Ospreys, is one of the most prolific goal scorers in NCAA Division III men's lacrosse. Last spring, he led the nation in goals per game (4.76) and finished sixth nationally in points per game (5.62). Swedlund set school records with 100 goals and 118 points on the season.
Swedlund compiled a lengthy list of honors for his play in 2019, highlighted by a USILA All-America Honorable Mention accolade. For the Colonial States Athletic Conference, he was chosen CSAC Player of the Year, CSAC First Team and MVP of the CSAC championship game.
Swedlund netted 18 goals and dished three assists for 21 points to spark Stockton to a 5-1 record during the abbreviated 2020 season, which ended early due to COVID-19. He was selected Maverik Lacrosse DIII Media All-America Honorable Mention by Inside Lacrosse for his play.
Swedlund potted a team-high 41 goals and tied for team lead with 50 points as a freshman in 2018. In just 43 career games, the junior already had 159 goals and 189 points, ranking second and seventh respectively in Stockton history in those categories.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Academic All-District honorees advance to the national ballot, from which CoSIDA Academic All-Americans will be selected in June.
