AmeriCorps

AmeriCorps is a nation-wide initiative to improve lives, strengthen communities and increase civic engagement. The U.S. state and federal government provide a select number of non-for-profit organizations with funding to recruit and train individuals to increase the reach and scope of their organization’s efforts. Americans of all ages and backgrounds give their time and talent to address important issues such as education, health, disaster relief, and nature conservation. Here at the Sixteenth Street, our AmeriCorps program expands health access for community members and helps build the next generation of health leaders.

Sixteenth Street is proud to have over a decade of experience hosting AmeriCorps members at our organization. The Sixteenth Street Community HealthCorps is a Public Health AmeriCorps program designed to tackle urgent health challenges and strengthen our country’s public health workforce. We receive funding from the CDC and the State of Wisconsin to train and place dedicated individuals within our departments to provide direct, patient-centered services. Through our member’s efforts, we can expand our mission to improve the health and well-being of those we care for within our health centers and out in the community.
