Stockton Wins Doubletree Holiday Tournament, 90-70

Reading, Pa. – Stockton University (8-5) controlled the second half and won the Doubletree Holiday Tournament with a 90-70 victory over host Albright College (7-4). The Ospreys outscored Albright 44-29 in the second stanza.
 
DJ Campbell (Vineland/Vineland) poured in a season-high 31 points for his fifth career 30-point game and grabbed eight rebounds on the way to tournament MVP honors. Campbell shot 11-22 (50%) from the field.
 
EJ Matthews-Spratley (Cherry Hill/CH East) scored 23 points and was named to the All-Tournament Team along with Martin Anguelov (Cape May/Wildwood Catholic), who netted 14 points in the win. Tayvon Gaither (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) also tallied 14 points and Jalen Collins (Blackwood/Triton) tied his season high with 10 rebounds.
 
The first half was tied five times before Campbell and Matthews-Spratley scored five points apiece during a 10-5 spurt that gave the Ospreys a 46-41 lead at the break. Campbell led all players with 15 first-half points followed by Anguelov with 12 and Matthews-Spratley with 11.
 
Stockton broke the game open with a 12-1 run in the second half. Gaither led the way with six points. His layup ended the outburst and gave the Ospreys a 66-49 lead with 14 minutes to play.
 
After Albright got within six, Stockton put the game away with a 19-7 run. Campbell scored 10 points during the spurt and the Ospreys went on to the 90-70 triumph and won the Doubletree Holiday Tournament.
 
Eric Chamberlain paced Albright with 14 points and nine rebounds. Hassan Massenburg also scored 14 points for the Lions.
 
Stockton's next game is at Montclair State on January 6 at 1:00 p.m.
