Cool Animated Robot Noir Gangster Short Film THE BOLT CONNECTION
I’ve got a great animated short film for you to watch today titled The Bolt Connection. This is a robot noir gangster thriller and the story goes in an interesting direction that you wouldn’t expect. I really enjoyed this film and this is the description of the story that was shared:
After a heist that goes wrong, a frail robot who was the driver of a robot mafia ends up being in possession of some loot he shouldn’t have, a human heart. Tempted by the opportunity of being like his bosses, he grafts the heart to himself and discovers the feeling of being alive. But those brief instants of life have a price.
The short was directed by Nicolas Lebas, Mathilde Dourdy, Maurine Lecerf, Shih-Hui Pan, Claire Cartier and Thibault Grunenberger. Lebas had this to say about the short:
This is my graduation movie, made at school during 2017/2018. I made it with Mathilde Dourdy, Maurine Lecerf, Shih-Hui Pan, Claire Cartier and Thibault Grunenberger. I had the chance that my project was selected, I worked on the scenario, direction, character design, art direction and character animation, but this would have been impossible without my team. Also we were very lucky with the sound design/soundtrack team, they exceeded my hopes and expectations. It was very successful in festivals around the world, it won 12 awards, with many nominations including Siggraph and Sigraph Asia and was selected as Vimeo's Staff Pick Premiere Program.
