Ian Carmelia recently was named to the
EDP Promising Young Coaches List by Elite Program Development Soccer. Carmelia works with three girls teams for the Real Jersey FC club program in addition to coaching at Stockton.
Carmelia led the Real Jersey FC 2009 girls to second place in EDP's top division while his 2008 girls team plays in the USYS National League Mid-Atlantic Premier I division and the 2011 girls are one of the strongest teams in the EDP Futures league.
Elite Development Program Soccer (EDP) was founded in 1999 and is one of the largest organizers of youth soccer leagues and tournaments in the country. EDP operates youth leagues for boys and girls ages 9-19, conducts a Futures program for players ages 7-11 and operates U20/23 men's and women's leagues.
The key emphasis for EDP's leagues and tournaments is its Pathway to College™ programming, which enables soccer players to reach their full potential with an emphasis on attending college. More than 3,500 teams participate in EDP leagues and more than 170,000 players compete in EDP tournaments annually.
Now in his second year on the Stockton coaching staff, Carmelia helped the Ospreys to a 10-6-4 record in Fall 2019. He is a 2015 graduate of Stockton who played three seasons in an Osprey uniform after one year at Salem Community College. Carmelia started 43 of his 51 career games at Stockton, totaling four goals and three assists for 11 points from 2013-15.
