Install Network Printers or Copiers (Faculty/Staff Only)

The steps below will walk you through how to install a network printer for use with your University computer.* If you experience any difficulties with the installation, please submit a ServeCU request using this form: Printing: Report a Problem/Request Help


Windows 10


1. Open File Explorer by selecting the Windows Start Menu   and then select File Explorer (type in the search bar if you do not see the icon) 
2. Enter \\print-facstaff in the field at the top of your File Explorer window as shown below:


3. Find the printer you want to install.  An example list is shown below.  Scroll down the entire page in your File Explorer window to see all available network printers.  


4. Double-click it and wait for the installation to complete.
5. The printer should now be available for printing.

Note: If you encounter the message "Access Denied" while attempting to install a printer, you may not have the proper rights to complete this installation. Please contact IT by submitting a Printer Problem Report.

 

Alternate Method for Windows 10

  1. Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Select “Add a printer or scanner” at the top of the screen. (See example below.) The computer will then search for available printers and scanners.
  3. Wait for the results to appear.
  4. Select the printer you want from the list of available printers.
  5. Click “Add device”.
  6. Wait for the installation to complete.


Mac

1. Open CedarNet 2.0 for Mac.

2. From the menu bar on the left, select Printers.

3. Find the printer you want to install.  An example list is shown below.  Scroll down the entire page in your CedarNet 2.0 window to see all available network printers.  

4. Click Install, and wait for the installation to complete.

5. The printer should now be available for printing.

Previous Method for Mac

1. Open System Preferences and go to "Printers & Scanners".
2. Click the + symbol.
3. Select the printer from the list to install it.
4. Select "Choose a Driver" and then select "Generic PCL driver.
