Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (16-9, 12-6 NJAC) could not withstand a hot shooting second half by Kean University (12-13, 9-9 NJAC) and fell 72-56 on Wednesday night.
DJ Campbell (Vineland/Vineland) led the team with 16 points and broke the all-time scoring mark of 2,124 career points by Carl Cochran (1993-97).

Stockton could not get anything going in the first half early, shooting just 25.0% (8-32) while committing 11 turnovers. Stockton held a brief 9-8 lead with 12:39 left until the break, but never led the rest of the period.

The result was Kean taking a 32-22 lead at the half. It was the lowest scoring first half of the season from the Ospreys.
EJ Matthews-Spratley (Cherry Hill/Cherry Hill East) led the home team with seven markers in the first 20 minutes of play.

The Cougars maintained a steady pace to start the second stanza scoring the first five points of the half to take a 37-22 lead and force Stockton into a timeout with 18:11 to play in regulation. After two more points by the Cougars upped the advantage to 39-22, Campbell, who entered the game seven points shy of the record, hit a three-pointer with 16:42 left in regulation to break Cochran's mark that had stood for 27 years..

After the lead ballooned to 62-38 at the 9:41 mark, Stockton made one final push but could get any closer than 16 points. Kean never slowed, shooting 50.0% (15-30), outscoring Stockton 40-34 in the period.

Matthews-Spratley added 10 points and tied his career high with eight rebounds.
Tayvon Gaither (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) also grabbed eight boards to tie for team honors.

Kean was led by Justin Morton with a game high 31 points. D.J. Alicea chipped in with 14 points, while teammates Mario Gunn pulled down a game high nine rebounds, and Ethan Stith dishing a game-high eight assists.

Stockton will be the number two seed for the upcoming NJAC Tournament against and will host a semi-final matchup next Wednesday. Game time will be 7 pm.
