Our Story

The Haitian Project is a Catholic nonprofit organization that supports and oversees one of the very best secondary education programs in Haiti, focused on the formation of Haiti’s future servant-leaders so that the country may realize a brighter future built by and for Haitians themselves.

For nearly four decades, The Haitian Project through Louverture Cleary School outside of Port-au-Prince has educated Haiti's future doctors, teachers, accountants, engineers, and more.

And thanks to a robust scholarship and networking program, historically 90 percent of graduates are either at university or working in Haiti, earning on average 10 times the per capita income of the country.

With construction underway on The Haitian Project's second school, the Model Campus in the Diocese of Gonaïves, and the identification of a third site in Haiti's southern peninsula, the Louverture Cleary Schools Network — a national system of 10 tuition-free, top-notch Catholic secondary schools — will increase access to quality education outside of the nation's capital.

As Haiti navigates significant challenges, your support of Louverture Cleary Schools is vital, and it will only be more so when the crisis of the moment has passed.

Because it is clear that a Louverture Cleary education has the ability to end poverty in Haiti.

And it all began right here in Rhode Island.
