Christina Taylor teams up with Canadian country artist Brett Kissel for her upbeat new song, “As Good As You Look,” which is premiering exclusively on Sounds Like Nashville today (10/17).

Co-written by Taylor along with chart-topping songwriters Kelley Lovelace, who’s penned several of Brad Paisley’s hits including “Ticks” and “He Didn’t Have to Be,” and Brent Anderson, the co-writer behind Blake Shelton and Ashley Monroe’s No. 1 duet “Lonely Tonight,” the catchy track stars Taylor and Kissel in a classic tale of two people who quickly go from strangers to lovers.

There’s a carefree spirit weaved throughout the song as Taylor and Kissel’s characters catch each other’s eye from across the bar. The first verse has Taylor noticing the little details of his presentation, like his old blue jeans and Copenhagen ring, while Kissel comments that she has smile capable of breaking any heart. The second verse brings the two together on the dance floor before the bridge has them foreseeing a future and wondering if the others’ “heart is as sweet as your smile.” “There’s a hell of a cover baby on your book / you ain’t even throwin’ a line / and I’m already hooked / that look you shot me has got me all shook up / baby I hope you love as good as you look,” they sing in the chorus, their voices complimenting one another beautifully.

This is one of those songs that means so much. There’s so much behind it, yet we wrote it in one session and recorded it pretty quickly too,” Taylor shares. “It’s so real, it all just came naturally.”

Taylor broke on to the country scene in 2017 with her EP That Girl that includes the title track and “Don’t Look Good in Your T-Shirt Anymore.” Kissel, a native of Alberta, Canada, has charted several songs on Billboard’s Canada Country chart, with “Airwaves” reaching No. 1 in 2015. He was named Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the 2014 Juno Awards. His new album, Now or Never, is slated for release in 2020.
