Deborah Walker is a professor of economics in the School of Business Administration at Fort Lewis College. She joined the college in 2002 and has also served as director of the Fort Lewis College Office of Economic Analysis and Business Research. Dr. Walker frequently leads groups of students to complete Economic Impact Studies for businesses and organizations in the Four Corners region, including the Festival of Trees, the Four Corners Motorcycle Rally, the Durango Independent Film Festival and most recently, the La Plata County Humane Society Shelter and Thrift Store. Prior to Fort Lewis, Dr. Walker was an associate professor at Loyola University New Orleans and a public policy analyst in Washington D.C.
In 2013, Dr. Walker received the Western Casewriters Association Best Case Award for her case on how the entrepreneur of a gym in a small town dealt with maintaining personal relationships with gym members while growing the gym’s membership.
