Spring Development Intern

American High's Development Internship consists solely of reading scripts and writing coverage in order to help our Creative team determine which high-school comedy scripts in our database are worth producing over the next couple of years. You are directly helping us select the next slate of movies to produce!

If you're unfamiliar with coverage, it refers to the act of writing a critical assessment of each script that you read based on a template we provide in a Google Form. Questions that are consistently asked about each script include, but are not limited to:

  • Would you pass, consider, or recommend this movie for production?
  • What would you give it from a 1-10 overall?
  • How would you rate its characters, structure, comedy, and dialogue from a 1-10?
  • Provide comments to explain exactly why you feel the way you do toward the script.
  • Provide a logline and synopsis for each script.
  • During which season(s) does the script take place?
  • During what length of time does the script occur?
  • What percentage of the script takes place in a high school?
  • Are the characters of high-school age?

The internship is entirely remote and should be taken for school credit. The number of work hours required is determined by your school's respective internship credit rules.

If you're interested in joining our program, please submit your resume in the Handshake portal. The AH team will review all applications by mid-December and confirm internships for those who secured the position.

After you receive confirmation that you will be interning with us, please email programs@americanhigh.com explaining that you're a Spring 2024 Development Intern, and you'll receive a follow-up email with everything you'll need to sign and submit in order to get started.

Best of luck with the application process!
