I work in Ballard two weeks out of the month and this is my favorite place to stop by before work.
I've gotten service from a different barista every time I have came in and they are always HELPFUL/CHEERY/POLITE -- love it! Something fresh is always being put into the display.
I loooove the blueberry montster glazed donut and the banana bread, it goes great with my hazelnut latte.
Another cool thing that you probably already know of this place is that you can send packages/mail, buy postcards, baby gfts, and homemade candles that smell soo good.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Joshua J.Seattle, WA2635536Aug 18, 2011
Well, it seems like they have everything, shipping wise, that one may require, prompt and kind service at that. I guess my gripe here is that I came in today to send a fax and it cost almost $8! I was a little stunned. I guess once you're used to a fax at work, it seems mindless and simple... as in, way less than $8 simple. Oh well. Great local business at any rate. Perhaps they'd throw in a fax for free if you're there on other business?? Dunno...
Thanks for listening!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Maureen K.Seattle, WA382001Mar 3, 2014
One of the friendliest shipping places I've encountered! Not only do they do all the dirty work of finding a box, stuffing the box (with your things and cushions) and mailing the box - they are also friendly!! There is a coffee shop inside (thus the "sip" part of the name) and a big enough gift and card section to keep you preoccupied while they're doing said dirty work.
I never understood the point of these places until I tried one out for myself. It beats going to the post office and waiting in line any day!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Bryan M.Los Angeles, CA3416947Jul 17, 2007
So cool. I love this concept. Bought a Ballard shirt for Dad, shipped it to Long Beach, drank a Fair Trade Mocha and ate a Mighty-O donut. Perfect!
Staff is great, products are cool, shipping is easy and coffee is fair trade!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sara N.WA, WA1071May 6, 2009
I am recently on the lookout for kidfriendly coffeehouses, and I had heard good things about this place...so, today, I actually had to mail some things....and I needed coffee....and to get out of the house on such a dismal day. I was happy that I decided to venture to S & S. The owners were extremely helpful and friendly, assisting me as I fumbled my million bags, son and stroller. I hung out in the play area upstairs and got to enjoy a coffee and cookie while my boy played with the toys. super cool to have these kid friendly coffee houses around. we need more of them, and I realize this now, as I am a mom of a 10 month old who loves to get out, and loves her coffee.
will definitely come back, and also try the Greenwood location...Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jonathan S.Seattle, WA227Sep 10, 2012
First of all, I just got back from sending something through Sip & Ship, so that should show you how eager I was to give them a good review.
I had been dreading a visit to the post office, which is always a depressing place to go because of the flourescent lighting, absence of any kind of decor, and the type of service you'd expect from a government office.
Sip & Ship was the opposite of the post office in every way from the moment I stepped in the door (ok, I realize I'm not writing a novella here, but it really did make my day). Great warm & inviting little shop with wonderful service and the added bonus of shipping, coffee, and shopping all in one place.
Diana helped me ship my package (three things needed to be shipped), which ended up being easier than anything I've ever had to do at the post office, including buying stamps. Diana was not only super friendly and helpful, but you could instantly tell she knew what she was doing and actually cared about helping you out.
Also, I don't recall the name of the person who was working at the coffee counter, but she was also really friendly and made a great cup of spicy chai. She alone was good enough to make someone a return customer, so the combination of great service with the shipping and the great chai means I'll be sure to come back.
I honestly think the only reason all of the post office customers haven't started going here instead is that there isn't a parking lot, and we are all creatures of habit.
If I could give them a 10 star rating, I would.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - D A.Seattle, WA4911Aug 23, 2013
It's a little dangerous for me to go into this place, because they have so much neat stuff I could blow up a few credit cards on all the lovely items to choose from. But I have to say, I think I have found the greatest candle ever here. They come in lovely hobnail (bumpy) glass container, in a beautiful array of colors and amazing scents, and here's the best part, they REALLY freshen a room up, and burn very slowly. I bought one and had to go back and get two more. And I NEVER splurge on candles like this. But one of these guys is worth ten of any regular "nice" candle you may see. They make for a perfect gift, too.
Also, an amazing selection of exceptional greeting cards. Ones you don't see anywhere else, ones that are very witty and clever, ones you want to buy and just keep and never give away! In a world of so much intangible stuff, words floating in space of the internet and e-greetings and such, I really think that cards, actual paper cards, could be a new form of treasure. I'll never lose a card when my hard drive fails!
This is a business deserving of five stars not only for being well run and having lovely things and services, but also because of their customer treatment. I made a mistake that was ALL MY FAULT and they took the fall for me. I can't tell you how grateful I was that day, and still am today, that they made an exception for me and gave me a break. It makes the difference between me having to put a stop to this candle and card addiction and me becoming an even more loyal and repeat customer. Thank you so much. You didn't have to do what you did. I will be back. I hope this place stays here forever.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jen P.Seattle, WA3532Nov 7, 2010
I'm the flip side of Alison D - I come here to ship, not sip. Have tried their coffee and it's not for me, but their various shipping services have made my life materially better - and really, what more could you ask from something normally as mundane as shipping services? It's an extremely well-run business.
I've had a mailbox here for 3+ years. I love having a mailing address that isn't my home address. It makes me feel more secure, plus there's always someone there to sign for packages and keep them safe from prying passerby. It lets me keep a consistent address when I move around, particularly helpful when I've lived overseas.
They take care of their customers. I did some extensive traveling in the past year, including trips of 3+ months - they held my mail (lots of it), no problem (my experiences with the post office on this front have been terrible). I added a business account to my mailbox - super easy and affordable. I was expecting a shipment over the 4th of July weekend and hadn't realized they'd be closed on the Monday - no problem, I just sent them an email and the owner quickly replied to help me find a time when someone would be on site and let me in even though they were closed. Staff is consistently super-helpful and friendly - far, far above those I've typically encountered at other shipping establishments. Extra points for the convenient free 15-minute parking alongside the building. At this rate, I expect 1752 NW Market St will be my mailing address until I die.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Monali P.Seattle, WA6019314Sep 28, 2012
On those mornings I don't want to be distracted or people watch or move for hours, I go to Sip & Ship.
I sip on a hot coffee, and devour a delish choc chip, coconut scone. They rotate their scones and they are all good.
Then I walk down, chat with the barista (all of them are friendly and efficient), scour some cards, remember I need to mail a belated bday card or simply get inspired to send one. Oooh, pretty cards. Pretty gifts. Time to ship and feel happy that I'm sending someone some love. Not to mention the sense of accomplishment. Small wins, people.
Then it's lunch, I get an Izze, maybe a sandwich, and I hole up in my favorite spot, upstairs on the couch chair. It's like a home away from home. I sip, I ship, I get shit done.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chris D.Seattle, WA315Jul 15, 2011
Such a cool little place. Great coffee, super friendly service, Mighty-O donuts(!). They also have a happy hour 2-4p every day with great deals on lattes. A good selection cards and gifty items too.
Full range of postal/shipping services. Prices seem to be a touch higher than going to the post office, but probably worth it to avoid the PO hassle.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
