Our team was grateful to join Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH at Little Buffalo State Park yesterday to raise awareness about preventing tick bites and Lyme disease. As Pennsylvanians enjoy the outdoors, it’s important to take simple precautions to stay safe. PA DEP’s Tick Surveillance and Testing Program has found that 60% of black-legged ticks carry Lyme disease—and new tick species are emerging in our region. We encourage everyone to use insect repellent, wear light-colored clothing, check for ticks after outdoor activity, and avoid stagnant water to reduce mosquito risks. DCNR joined the Departments of Health and Environmental Protection at Little Buffalo State Park to raise awareness about the importance of preventing Lyme disease and tick bites. Pennsylvania continues to be one of the top states for Lyme disease cases — but with a little preparation, we can protect ourselves and our loved ones while enjoying outdoor activities. Here’s how you can stay tick-safe this summer: 🌿Use EPA-approved insect repellent 🌿Wear light-colored clothing and cover exposed skin 🌿Treat clothes/gear with permethrin 🌿Shower and check for ticks after outdoor activities 🌿Toss your clothes in the dryer on high heat after coming inside Learn more: https://ow.ly/s0P350WkAao

Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection reposted this
In 1995, DCNR and Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection had what you might call a conscious uncoupling. 😅 No drama — just different vibes. 30 years later? Still environmental besties. 💚

🎉 We’re celebrating 30 years of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP)! Since 1995, DEP has worked to protect Pennsylvania’s air, land, and water. From cleaning up old mines to restoring rivers and making sure our air is safe to breathe—we’ve been there. Behind every project is a team of people who care about making our state a cleaner, safer place to live. Thank you to the communities, partners, and public servants who made these 30 years possible. We're excited to keep working together for the next 30! 🌎🌿 Read a tribute to our 30th year as DEP below 👇 #PADEP30 #Sustainability #EnvironmentalProtection #TeamDEP #30YearsOfImpact

Pennsylvania DEP is making it easier to get to work—responsibly. 👇 Starting today, the SPEED Program (Streamlining Permits for Economic Expansion and Development) offers a faster permit review process. With SPEED, eligible applicants can opt to have their permit application reviewed more quickly by a qualified professional. DEP still makes the final decision, ensuring environmental protections are met. The first permit available through SPEED is the Chapter 102 Individual NPDES Permit for Stormwater Discharges Associated with Construction Activities. With more permit types are coming in July. Pennsylvania DEP and the Shapiro Administration are launching a new way to help businesses move faster — without skipping safety. Starting June 30, the SPEED program will make it quicker and easier to get DEP permits for construction projects. Here’s how it works: ✅ Builders can pay for a DEP-approved expert to expedite review of their permit ✅ DEP makes the final permit decision to ensure environmental standards are met ✅ Faster reviews = quicker projects = more jobs This builds on DEP’s success in cutting red tape — already reducing the permit backlog by 94%!
