Knowledge Services Classes and Events

Knowledge Services is committed to providing University employees with a broad range of training opportunities.  We recognize that training programs and professional development can help an employee increase their effectiveness and refine their job skills.  We offer classes for Financial and Human Resources business topics. 

This page allows you to register for a class, view an existing schedule, withdraw from a class or print a transcript of completed courses.

A select number of classes are available in person. A virtual offering will also be available for our classes. There are several offerings in Canvas. 

Before you register, please expand the class description and read the instructions for joining the team and the specific training channel carefully. If the class is in person, please review the room assignment carefully. All in person classes will not have a hybrid option at this time. 

A Teams meeting link will not be emailed to you upon registration. It will be up to you to follow the directions to join the team and the corresponding training channel. 

In the event that a class is cancelled for low attendance, registrants will receive an email from knowledgeservices@uta.edu with further information. 

Class registration may be closed two (2) business days prior to the scheduled date.

Adobe Sign is an online platform used to route documents for signature. This training covers the basics of using Adobe Sign: importing documents, adding form fields, sending out documents, saving documents as templates, and creating workflows.

Note - Training and a license are not required for users who will only be signing documents. Training and a license are required for document creators/ originators.

Target Audience: Administrative and Support staff who need to request electronic signatures via a web platform.

Budget Transfer Workflow explains how to create, submit and modify Budget Transfers within UTShare.

This is a class for front office staff to learn how to invite suppliers to provide goods or services to the university.  You will learn how to send and resend invitations to suppliers, track these requests, and filter results to look up specific vendors or onboarding statuses. Before inviting a new Supplier, a thorough search should be performed to avoid duplications.

The Position and Workforce Management class is designed for individuals responsible for processing organizational and personnel transactions.  In this class, participants will learn how to view position data, view an incumbent’s assignment/appointment data, and view funding information for a position.  In addition, users will learn how to make changes and/or updates to position information using the eForms module in UT Share.  After completing this course, you will understand how to:

  • View an employee Job Data
  • View Position Data
  • View Position Funding using the Department Budget Table
  • Create the following eForms in UT Share:
    • New/Appointment Forms (New Hires, Rehires, New Position Request)
    • Change Forms (Modify Position, Change Funding, Pay Rate, Additional Pay, Transfers Within Institution)
    • Ending Forms (Terminations, Retirements, End Assignment, LOA)

Note:  Training is required before a "Requester/Document Creator" is granted access to the eForms module in UT Share.  In addition, the document creator must have Level III access privileges.  The “eForm Approver Only” role is automatically to individuals identified as a “Report To” Manager, Project Manager for Grants, and to any individual currently assigned to approve Financial Workflow documents in UT Share.

The TCP for Managers and Timekeepers class is designed for employees who have the Manager or Timekeeper role in TCP.

TCP for Managers and Timekeepers is a two part course and must be attended in order. Please register for Part 2 at your earliest convenience.

Microsoft Bookings is an online and mobile app originally designed for small businesses who provide services to customers on an appointment basis. In a university environment it can be used to schedule appointments for advising, counseling, tutoring, or any service where an appointment is needed. We will cover the setup and creation of a Microsoft Bookings site.

This hybrid training session will begin with a 3-hour introductory workshop. In the live session, participants will receive an overview of online training and the Canvas Learning Management System. Time will be spent walking through the online course modules in “Developing Non-Academic Courses in Canvas”. Introductory Microsoft Teams Training

This class is designed to give a general overview of Teams features, including channels, chat, document sharing, screen sharing, meetings (scheduling, options, settings), recordings, and best practices. 

This class is not dedicated to using Teams for Teaching, this is Teams for everyday use. 

This class is being taught completely online through the Teams platform. 

Please review the instructions below:
 

Log in To Teams and navigate to the Teams Section. Click to Join or create a Team. In the "Join a team with a code" section, enter this code: ggu0q8s

Select the Daily Teams Session channel to view the session.
 

Before being able to join the online class, a few steps will need to be taken.

2. Click on the Teams icon.

This class is designed for employees responsible for reconciling the monthly Financial Statements It will provide an understanding of the new SAHARA financial module and the responsibilities of the department. In this class, participants will learn how to access the SAHARA module, how to navigate through the module, and understand the information provided in the different sections of the module. In addition, we will discuss the required support documentation and the necessary approvals for the statements.

The Position and Workforce Management class is designed for individuals responsible for processing organizational and personnel transactions.  In this class, participants will learn how to view position data, view an incumbent’s assignment/appointment data, and view funding information for a position.  In addition, users will learn how to make changes and/or updates to position information using the eForms module in UT Share.  After completing this course, you will understand how to:

  • View an employee Job Data
  • View Position Data
  • View Position Funding using the Department Budget Table
  • Create the following eForms in UT Share:
    • New/Appointment Forms (New Hires, Rehires, New Position Request)
    • Change Forms (Modify Position, Change Funding, Pay Rate, Additional Pay, Transfers Within Institution)
    • Ending Forms (Terminations, Retirements, End Assignment, LOA)

Note:  Training is required before a "Requester/Document Creator" is granted access to the eForms module in UT Share.  In addition, the document creator must have Level III access privileges.  The “eForm Approver Only” role is automatically to individuals identified as a “Report To” Manager, Project Manager for Grants, and to any individual currently assigned to approve Financial Workflow documents in UT Share.

Note:  To understand the eForm process from beginning to end, Approvers are welcome to attend this class.  This includes Department Approvers, “Reports To” Managers, and Principal Investigators.
