Storm Information

The Florida Department of Education works closely with school districts before, during and after natural disasters to ensure they have the resources necessary to resume normal operations as quickly as possible. We will continue collaborating with district leadership to address questions as they arise. At this time, the Department is monitoring the storm. Please continue to visit our website for updates.

K-12 School Closures

  • Franklin County Schools will have early release on Monday, May 13, 2024. 
    • 1:00 p.m. for Students
    • 1:30 p.m. for Faculty
  • Gadsden County Schools will have early release on Monday, May 13, 2024.
    • 12:15 p.m. - ESE CPA and Crossroad
    • 12:30 p.m. - High School
    • 1:30 p.m. - Middle and Elementary Schools
    • 1:45 p.m. - Havana Magnet
  • Jefferson County Schools will have early release on Monday, May 13, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. and will be closed Tuesday, May 14, 2024.
  • Leon County Schools will have early release on Monday, May 13, 2024, all schools closing at 1:00 p.m.:
    • All schools open; except for Sabal Palm and SAIL
    • Sabal Palm will reopen Tuesday, May 14, 2024.
  • Wakulla County Schools will have early release on Monday, May 13, 2024.
    • 12:00 p.m. - High School
    • 12:20 p.m. - Middle Schools
    • 1:20 p.m. - Elementary Schools

Florida College System Closures

  • Tallahassee State College will reopen Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

State University Closures

  • Florida A&M University will remain closed Monday, May 13, 2024. Monday marks the start of Summer A and C semesters. Classes will be conducted remotely May 13-17, 2024.
