With over 2 million views on TikTok and counting, there's a good chance you've heard "Got It From My Mama," but do you know the duo behind the viral hit? We chatted with Dani Rose and Sofie Lynn of Honey County about their latest single that rightfully brags about all the special qualities that they inherited from their moms.
Who is Honey County?
If you look on the map, you won't find a single Honey County and that's part of the reason why Dani Rose and Sofie Lynn took the name. As something that only exists when the duo are playing, their music brings together good people and good music which makes for a "sweet" time (pun definitely intended).
Named as Billboard's "Rookie of the Month," there's a reason why Honey County's music resonates with so many people. Oh, and their music's been featured on Yellowstone, HBO's True Blood, and CW's Roswell!
From Yellowstone to TikTok stardom
Within four seasons of the hit television drama, Yellowstone fans are probably more familiar with Honey County's music than they think. Their singles "Love Someone," "Under Your Influence," "Cigarette," and "Chess" have all been featured on the show. Now, if you would've told them a few years ago that this would be the case, they probably wouldn't believe you, but if Sofie of Honey County could tell her younger self anything it'd be to "follow your gut, work hard, and be a good human and the rest will fall into place."
From the television screen to your phone screen, Honey County is sending waves through the industry and that's probably why their latest anthem "Got It From My Mama" has resonated with thousands. Heck, it's already gained over 2 million views collectively and counting.
"We wrote this song because we wanted something special and unique for our moms for Mother's Day. Every single detail in the song is specific to us, from matching tattoos to being able to hold liquor like our sisters," they said. Now, they've even seen people using it for their mother/daughter wedding dance.
Naturally, their new music video for "Got it From My Mama" is a short film and an ode to mother figures everywhere. "Just like the song, the video was all about the details," Dani Rose said. We're talking using Sofie's grandmother's vintage jewelry, Dani repping a necklace with her mom's initial and even incorporating a unique art display of hanging CDs to display the faces of their loved ones.
No pressure for Mother's Day, but writing an entire song to honor the mother figure in your life is pretty impressive. Just saying!
