Playlist: 10 artists with new music coming in 2019

While a Beyonce-style surprise album drop may be in vogue these days, plenty of performers are still opting for traditional releases, planned months in advance with an attached due date. 

From the Backstreet Boys and Avril Lavigne's respective returns to anticipated releases from Florida Georgia Line and Weezer, listeners have plenty of new albums to look forward to in the first quarter of 2018. Read on for 10 releases that are scheduled to arrive in the next few months.

Mike Posner, "Song About You" (Jan. 18)

The "I Took a Pill in Ibiza" singer/producer has a new album "A Real Good Kid" out Jan. 18, sharing that his songwriting was inspired by his father's recent terminal illness.

Backstreet Boys, “Chances” 

"DNA," the 10th studio album from the long-running boy band, is set to arrive Jan. 25.

Meghan Trainor, “Treat Myself” 

Also dropping Jan. 25 is "Treat Myself," the third studio album from the "All About That Bass" star, which was originally scheduled for an August 2018 release.

Bob Mould, "Sunshine Rock"

The former Husker Du frontman's new solo effort, "Sunshine Rock," is due Feb. 8.

Avril Lavigne, “Head Above Water” 

"Head Above Water” is the title track from the Canadian rocker's forthcoming album (Feb 15), her first release in five years.

Florida Georgia Line, “People are Different"

The country act has a perfectly cheeky album title attached to their new release Feb. 15, "Can’t Say I Ain’t Country."

Weezer, “Africa"

Whether the band’s self-titled “Black Album” (out March 1) will actually include their successful 2018 cover of Toto’s “Africa” remains to be seen.

Gang of Four, "Lucky"

The post-punk veterans will follow their 2018 Trump-skewering EP "Complicit" with a new studio album "Happy Now, out March 1.

Dido, "Friends"

Dido, the UK singer of '90s fame, will release her fifth studio album "Still On My Mind" on March 8, her first release since 2013.

The Flaming Lips, "The Captain"

The Wayne Coyne-led indie rockers have their eighteenth studio album, "King's Mouth," set for an April 13 release.
