Entrepreneurs, what are your thoughts on Shark Tank and similar pitch-centric TV shows? My feelings towards these platforms is mixed. Their potential for exposure can be life-changing, and the thrill of delivering a make-or-break pitch is one of the most exhilarating feelings I’ve ever felt, yet... I can't get over the fakeness of it. Sharks will demand significant equity that almost always devalues the business, and cite their brand name/experience as the reason. Yet, talking to founders, the biggest value-add almost never comes from the investors, but from the sales that always clone after being on Shark Tanks. I’ve been a huge fan of these shows for a while, but it almost seems like the more I learn, the less realistic all of this becomes, which leads to lower quality television. "Richa, Weren't You Nervous on Shark Tank?"🤔 I have been asked this countless times by people around me. And truth be told–sure, there were nerves. But, that doesn’t take away from the fact that it was an unforgettable experience. Our pitch was an hour long. But here's the thing – as intimidating as we thought the sharks would be, they weren't. In fact, they went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. They cracked jokes, they laughed, and they were incredibly candid. It's like having a conversation with seasoned entrepreneurs who genuinely want to see you succeed. Even though we're no strangers to investor pitches. But there's something about presenting on national television, knowing that the entire nation is going to watch this and judge you, that can give even the most confident entrepreneur a case of the butterflies. Yet, despite the nerves, it was an amazing experience. Walking into that tank, facing the sharks, and sharing our vision for D'chica – it was a moment of pride, nerves and all. So, to answer the question – yes, there were nerves. But they were quickly overshadowed by the thrill of the experience. And looking back, I wouldn't change a thing.
