Colt Ford has enlisted the help of longtime friend Mitchell Tenpenny for his new song “Slow Ride,” premiering exclusively on Billboard today (Aug. 8).
One of several tracks featured on Ford’s forthcoming album We the People Volume 1 out Sept. 20, “Slow Ride” features Ford’s unique blend of country storytelling and urban production with his rapid fire lyrics, a thumping bass beat and Tenpenny’s sultry falsetto. Ford penned the track with his fiddle player, Justin David Bertoldie, and Taylor Phillips, Josh Mirenda and Jared Sciullo.
“’Slow Ride’ is a melodic jam that has you 30 seconds into the song and you just wanna let the music take you,” Ford tells Billboard. “Lyrically it’s the guy saying, ‘Hey, let’s forget all the trouble and you and I get lost in each other.’”
Adds Tenpenny, “I’ve been a Colt Ford fan for a long time, so when I got the call, it was a no brainer.”
