community relief fund - updated wed asset.png

We're showing up:

Like many of you, The Gathering for Justice has been adjusting to life in the time of this ongoing global pandemic. And while we continue to build our current programming and develop ideas and solutions for reaching our communities now and in the future, it is also important that we find ways to provide relief and emergency aid to the populations and communities we serve. Thanks to generous grounding investments from philanthropic funders, we launched our first Rapid Response Fund in 2020, at the peak of the pandemic. In 2021, as our funding pool expanded we launched our Community Relief Fund which provided relief grants to individuals and organizations in need on a rolling basis.

To date, the Community Relief Fund has distributed $71,000 to the following populations:

  • Young people ages 15-25 released from a Juvenile Detention Center/Youth Prison/Camp or Group Home during the COVID-19 pandemic (In NY & CA)

  • The parent or primary guardian of a young person ages 15-25 currently at a Juvenile Detention Center/Youth Prison/Camp or Group Home (In NY & CA)

  • People/Families directly impacted by police violence in NY & CA

  • Girls and gender-expansive activists and organizers ages 15-25 (Anywhere in the 50 States, DC, and Puerto Rico)

  • 501c3 organizations providing direct services to California youth ages 15-25 released from a Juvenile Detention Center/Youth Prison/Camp or Group Home, systems-impacted or formerly incarcerated young people and families

At this time, all funds have been exhausted and applications to the Community Relief Fund are currently closed. To stay in the loop for future opportunities, sign up for our mailing list today!

All awards are administered by The Gathering for Justice, a 501c3 public charity.
