On April 11-13, 2024, the new IUP Graphic Design and Illustration program hosted the first Slenkfest, named after IUP’s first graphic design professor, Robert Slenker. Slenkfest was a nexus of interaction between current graphic design and illustration students and IUP alumni currently working in the field of visual design. Events will celebrate and share the program's high quality and alumni successes with the university and public community. Among the highlights was the opening of an exhibition, Energy and Color: Thirty Years of Illustration by John Ritter, in the University Museum, and a presentation by Susan Burig, Marvel Cinematic Universe Graphic Designer, who talked about her career in the movie industry.
