We are excited to partner with A Rocha USA and other churches in Florida for a Beach Clean-Up on Saturday, March 8th, from 8 a.m. – 10 a.m. at Lori Wilson Park in Cocoa Beach! We will have the special opportunity to learn from A Rocha staff about plastic pollution, A Rocha’s marine conservation work, and how caring for our marine environments relates to our faith. This is a family friendly event. Individuals and families of all ages are invited to participate!

Please be sure to bring anything you might need to enjoy the beach including sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, sunglasses and a hat. All Beach Clean-up supplies like buckets, grabbers, gloves and trash bags will be provided. Free parking is available at Lori Wilson Park but we recommend to carpool if you can. We will wrap up the event around 10am, but feel free to hang out and enjoy the beach for the rest of the day!

As St. Lukers, we believe that a relationship with God’s creation, and a ministry of caring for and healing the earth, is integral to being a Christian. Our natural world is to be valued and conserved because God has called humanity to be its caretakers (Genesis 1:26-31). In our 24 & More Vision, we voted to prioritize addressing the climate crisis and are making strides toward a “greener,” more environmentally conscious St. Luke’s community.

Contact Saniye Kazan at skazan@st.lukes.org if you are interested in joining a team of Creation Care activists who will work on making our community more sustainable and earth-friendly.
