Pothoven

PELLA — Ray Pothoven of Pella was recognized for achieving a 50-year banking milestone at the 2021 Iowa Bankers Association convention.

Pothoven began his career in banking in 1971 after graduating from Central College with a degree in business administration. His banking career started at Pella National Bank.

During his tenure, the bank experienced several mergers and acquisitions, eventually becoming US Bank. He worked in the same building while the bank underwent four name changes until he left in 2005. In 2008, Ray joined the lending team at Leighton State Bank. He is a graduate of Iowa Bankers Consumer Credit School, Iowa Bankers Agricultural Credit School, and Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

“I love working with my fellow employees at Leighton State Bank, and I appreciate the fact that LSB decisions are made locally rather than at a corporate headquarters far away,” said Pothoven.

When not at the bank, Pothoven has served on his church council, elementary school board, and various committees for nonprofit organizations. He enjoys spending time outdoors and working on the farm. He also loves to visit his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.
