Hamptons International Film Festival COVID-19 Policy

Updated October 5, 2021

The 2021 Hamptons International Film Festival will be our most unique festival to date. With the COVID-19 pandemic ongoing, we continue to closely monitor and follow all local, state, and national public health guidelines. To protect the health and safety of festival participants and our local community, we’ve instituted the following policies for the 29th edition of HIFF:

Please note: You must show your vaccination card or official digital pass to enter the Box Office at Guild Hall.

All festival attendees will be required to show proof of vaccination status. This includes filmmakers, industry delegates, board, audiences, sponsors, donors, staff, and volunteers. Attendees must carry proof of vaccination status on their person at all times.

  • PASS HOLDERS (Patrons, Founders, Filmmakers, Industry): You must submit your proof of vaccination and photo before picking up your pass. Pass holders who cannot show proof of vaccination, who have had a recent COVID infection, or who are currently experiencing symptoms will not receive their pass.
  • TICKET HOLDERS: You must show proof of vaccination before entry to the venue. Please arrive early to each screening. Remember to print your tickets at home, or present your tickets on your phone to be scanned. We will perform contact tracing as necessary.

To show proof of vaccination, all attendees will have to provide a completed vaccination card or official digital pass to prove full vaccination has been completed at least 14 days prior to Opening Night (October 7) of the Hamptons International Film Festival. Visit epass.ny.gov to download New York State’s free Excelsior Pass or download the NYC COVID Safe App (Android | iOS) for seamless entry. Any international visitors will have to show a hard copy of an official vaccination record administered outside the U.S.

Regardless of vaccination status, masks covering the nose and mouth are required for audiences at all HIFF venues, including the Box Office and Registration. For the safety of everyone, guests unable to wear proper face coverings will not be admitted into the venue or will be asked to leave if unable to comply with policy.

No food or drinks will be allowed inside HIFF screening venues.

Staff will be tested daily, in partnership with Health Rover.

Indoor venue capacities will be reduced to ensure social distancing, and turnover times between screenings will increase to allow for sanitizing surfaces before and after each show. Hand sanitizer will be provided at all HIFF venues by our Clean & Safe Partner, Clean Republic. We encourage attendees to make use of sanitizer before entering indoor spaces.

HIFF respectfully requests that you not attend the festival if any of the following is true of you or anyone in your party:

  • Within 14 days prior to attending the festival, you have tested positive for—or have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for—COVID-19.
  • Within 48 hours prior to attending the festival, you have experienced symptoms of COVID-19 (fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea or any other symptoms associated with COVID-19 as identified by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention).
  • Within 14 days prior to attending the festival, you have travelled to any international territory identified by the federal government or New York State as being subject to travel or quarantine advisories due to COVID-19.

In a nutshell, please remember the following:

  • Arrive early.
  • Bring your vaccination card or digital pass.
  • Print your tickets, or have them on your phone.
  • Wear your mask.
  • Enjoy the movies!
