The full lineup for the 25th annual Austin Film Festival has been revealed, and it includes Steve McQueen and Gillian Flynn’s action thriller Widows and Peter Farrelly’s dramedy (and recent winner of the Toronto International Film Festival’s coveted Grolsch People’s Choice Award) Green Book, starring Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen.
AFF’s feature film slate includes 23 world, North American and U.S. premieres, a retrospective series and several marquee titles, including Mike Leigh’s period film Peterloo, Paul Dano’s Wildlife starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan, and the Julia Roberts and Lucas Hedges family drama Ben Is Back bowing as AFF’s Centerpiece selection, with writer and director Peter Hedges in attendance.
The festival also announced its 2018 television program, which includes a special preview screening of the season two premiere episode of Netflix’s half-hour comedy Friends From College. Creators Francesca Delbanco and Nicholas Stoller will present.
Series creator Justin Marks and executive producer Jordan Horowitz will also be on hand at the festival to introduce the season two premiere of their espionage thriller Counterpart, which stars J.K. Simmons. AFF will also showcase independent original series as part of its Scripted Digital Series competition.
The festival, which runs Oct. 25 to Nov. 1, also announced its full Writers Conference schedule, which can be viewed at the festival’s website.
