STAR has been in existence for over 20 years providing transportation and other supports to older adults in Monroe County. We enlist paid specialists and trained volunteers to help people to remain independent in their homes.

Transportation to medical appointments, grocery shopping, and other essential errands. Shopping can include shopping with the participant and/or shopping for the person.
Other supports include the arrangement of friendly visiting, phone reassurance, referrals to other community resources, and a membership option called Homeworks that provides low-cost home maintenance/repair support.
Over age 60, live in Monroe County and have a need for the assistance.
To register call (585) 262-7050. You will receive an intake packet in the mail, and will need to return the signed paperwork to us. After the consent has been returned, you can begin using the transportation service and a driver will be assigned to you. Requests for rides should be made 5 days in advance.

Clients are identified as a Fee or Donation participant at intake, based on their monthly income.
Donation clients will be asked for a voluntary donation at the time of service.
Fee clients pay $10 per one way trip, $13 for a short round trip (under 10 miles), $17 for a round trip (11-30 miles) and $20 for a round trip more than 30 miles.
