The State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis program built on its stellar last two seasons of 2018-2019 and 2019-2020, posted another strong season in 2020-2021.
The program is now an outstanding 34-1 over the last three seasons after going 7-1 this year. In 2019-2020, they finished 9-1 before the remainder of the season was cancelled, and this year took the next step as a program, making the NCAA Division III Championship. Though they fell, 5-0 to Babson College in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the team was outstanding all year within the conference and was undefeated heading into its match against the Beavers.
Â
Up until a May 3 cancellation at SUNY Plattsburgh, the Hawks had won 42 of 45 matches. In the SUNYAC Championships in Binghamton, NY, they defeated SUNY Fredonia, winning all five matches in the semi-final and winning five of six over SUNY Oneonta in the SUNYAC Championship.
Â
Freshman

However, she was great throughout the year, winning two matches 6-0, 6-0, and not having an opponent win more than three games in any of her matches. Her closest match was a 6-3, 6-3 win over the Red Dragons on May 6. Barnett was named SUNYAC Rookie of the Year. The future is bright for the freshman.
Â
Last season, sophomore
