Works in Progress: Campus construction projects for June 2021

Facilities Management shares the following updates about campus construction projects that may impact some community members in the coming weeks.

We appreciate your patience while we upgrade our campus infrastructure this summer.

Haggerty Plaza ramp and stairs

The exterior ramp entrance leading up from Haggerty Plaza Circle, and the asphalt stairs and landings leading from Haggerty Parking Lot to Plaza Circle, will be closed for replacement from June 10 – July 30.

During this time, the exterior main stairs immediately adjacent to the ramp will remain open for access to the plaza.

To avoid all construction activity, members of our community can access the HAB and Student Union complex through the ground level mailroom entrance.

Southside Loop sidewalks

The west side sidewalks (and some adjacent curb cuts) running along Southside Loop Road from Route 32 to Pond Road (near the basketball courts by Peregrine Dining Hall) will be closed for replacement between Friday, June 11 and Friday, June 18.

During this time, please follow the temporary signage/directions in the area to access buildings when traveling along Southside Loop Road.

Lecture Center closure

The current construction project at the Lecture Center will require closure of the entire building from 6 a.m. – 5 p.m. from June 21 – 25, with an exception for one scheduled course (described below).

While Lecture Center is closed, members of our community will be unable to travers between the Sojourner Truth Library and Humanities through the Lecture Center.

Parking on the west side of the Lecture Center will also be limited.

Exception: Students who are taking the class in the Lecture Center TV studio on Monday, June 21, can access the class by entering the building from the west side, through the lower doors off the parking area. You will not be permitted to enter the building from the Concourse level or any other entrance.
