Since our founding in 1984, Milwaukee Habitat has helped nearly 1500 local families build or repair a place to call home.

Last week, our deconstruction team completed their 1000th project. This is an astonishing achievement and is all the more impressive when considering that the Deconstruction Team was founded by a volunteer team led by Ken & Cindy Gear. These ambitious individuals, starting largely on their own, were equipped with a vision of a better world and the capacities to enact that vision. It is worth taking time to reflect on the scale of their accomplishment.

🏡40 years of Building Homeownership:
In November of 1983, a vision was born. Twelve individuals deeply concerned about the lack of affordable housing in Milwaukee gathered at Bay Shore Lutheran Church. Their mission was ambitious, their resources limited, but their determination was unwavering. In 1984, Milwaukee Habitat became an official Habitat for Humanity affiliate.
