Philadelphia, Pa. – Stockton University finished fourth out of six teams in the grand final of the Women's Varsity Heavyweight Eight (Division III) at the Dad Vail Regatta. The Ospreys missed out on a medal by less than a second in a virtual dead heat with Marietta College for third place.
The Osprey eight was led by
Emily Culmone (Absecon/Ocean City),
Carrie Alpin (North Hanover/Northern Burlington) and
Nicole Iatarola (Sewell/Washington Twp.), all of whom were All-Mid Atlantic Rowing Conference selections this season.
Madelynn Schina (Somerdale/Highland),
Emily Latshaw (Toms River/TR South),
Amber Hartzell (Merchantville/Haddon Hts.),
Izabelle DelRoss (Egg Harbor City/Cedar Creek) and
Alexandra Kazan (Vineland/OLMA) rounded out the varsity eight.
Lorelei Hendricks (Burlington/Doane Academy) was the coxswain.
The Ospreys finished with a time of 7:00.698 that was just under four tenths of a second behind third-place Marietta at 7:00.310 for the bronze medal. Stockton was bidding for its second consecutive Dad Vail medal in the Division III varsity eight after winning the event last year.
The Dad Vail Regatta was the final event of the season for the Ospreys during a 2021-22 season that saw them row in the prestigious Head of the Charles and Dad Vail regattas and also relocate to the Brigantine Rowing Club boat house, where they hosted the Stockton-Brigantine Boat Race on April 3.
