Description

We are pleased to share with that this year’s University Life Gives Back Summer Day of Service is scheduled for Wednesay, July 27, 2106. This year's program will provide staff the opportunity to make a difference and give back to community. Our theme is "University Life Gives Back". A variety of service projects (both on-site and off-site) will be available for staff to choose from and participate in.

As a result of participation in the 2016 University Life Summer Day of Service, staff will:

  • Give back to the campus and community through service and volunteerism
  • Put University Life core values into practice through active involvement and participation in the service projects and initiatives
  • Re-connect with fellow colleagues through service and social interaction
  • Re-energize self and units as we prepare for the new academic year
  • Enhance awareness and understanding of the needs of special populations, through service projects, within our surrounding communities
  • Recognize the value of an individual contribution to the our group’s efforts toward social change (Social Change Model of Leadership)

Day-Of Information

  • Check-In will take place in SUB I, Patriot's Lounge at 8:30am (for off-campus service projects)
  • Off-Campus service projects will be from 9:30am-12:30pm (includes travel time to and from campus)
  • Check-In will take place in SUB I, Patriot's Lounge, 9:00am - 9:30am (for on-campus service projects)
  • On-Campus service projects will be held from 9:30am-12:30pm
  • 12:30pm-2:00pm - Bring your own lunch for games, popcorn, giveaways, and fun in the Corner Pocket

Additional Information
We are collecting diapers of any size, receiving blankets and lovies/rattles. These items will be used to create diaper cakes for new and expecting families with donated items, including smaller size diapers. We will donate diaper cakes and larger size diapers to Northern Virginia Family Service. For your convenience we have established an Amazon wishlist (you may bring items as well). Lastly, we are collecting non-perishable items for the Mason Pop-Up Pantry. Some items that the pantry is in need of include: paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, shampoo, crackers, snacks (trail mix, Cheez-its, etc.), bottled drinks, mouthwash, binders, folders, notebook paper, first aid equipment. Donations for the Pop Up Pantry can be delivered to University Life Central, SUB I, 4211 or dropped off in the Patriot’s Lounge on the day of service, July 27th.
